Ness is is the main protagonist of the 1994 SNES video game EarthBound. He is a psychic preadolescent boy who investigates the debris and finds a bug named Buzz Buzz, who sends Ness on a globe-trekking journey to recruit three friends into the "Chosen Four" and save the world from Giygas, an "embodiment of evil" that exists outside of spacetime.

He was voiced by Makiko Ohmoto in the Super Smash Bros. series, who also voices Kirby.
