Neville Longbottom is a major character in the Harry Potter series. One of the Gryffindor students at same year as Harry Potter's, Neville was one of his close friends, but was often overlooked for being shy, socially awkward and not good with magic. During Dolores Umbridge's takeover of Hogwarts School, Neville became a part of Dumbledore's Army, where his magical abilities dramatically improved, and he became an important ally of Harry in the Second Wizarding War later on.
He was played in the movies by Matthew Lewis.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He is friendly with everyone.
- He constantly visits his parents in the hospital after they were tortured to insanity.
- When Draco Malfoy insulted him and Ron's family, alongside Ron, he stood up to and fought Malfoy.
- When Harry, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger tried to get the Philosopher's Stone, he tried to stop them from losing even more points for Gryffindor. Even though he didn't know the trio's true motives, his courage later awarded ten points to their house.
- He believed in Harry that Lord Voldemort was back.
- He was a devoted member of Dumbledore's Army, and helped others whenever possible.
- He tried to attack Bellatrix Lestrange to avenge his parents.
- He was the one (after Harry) to have helped the most in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries before the Order of the Phoenix showed up, as he held his own and constantly helped Harry and his friends who were incapacitated.
- When he and the others were being threatened by Death Eaters to make Harry hand over the prophecy, Neville encouraged him not to give in.
- He fought in the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, standing guard outside the Room of Requirement in an attempt to intercept Draco Malfoy, and attended Dumbledore's funeral.
- He, alongside Luna Lovegood, defended Hogwarts School by being the leader of the resistance against Alectus and Amycus Carrow and their constant abuse of the Hogwarts students. He freed the ones who were locked up by them, made everybody who disagreed with them safe by hiding in the Room of Requirement, and overall, prevented Hogwarts from becoming an all-out Death Eater ruled dictatorship.
- When Harry, Ron and Hermione came back to Hogwarts, he used his D.A. coin to call all members of Dumbledore's Army to help defend the school from Death Eaters.
- He fought bravely at the Battle of Hogwarts, using his herbology knowledge to defend from the Death Eaters, alongside Professor Sprout.
- He refused to join Voldemort, knowing full well that the latter would kill him.
- When Harry Potter was supposedly dead, he was the first one to face Voldemort, and gave a speech that encouraged everybody on Harry’s side to fight once again.
- He killed Nagini, the last of the Horcruxes, ultimately allowing Harry to kill Voldemort and singlehandedly stop a dark potential future, as well as finally letting her rest in peace.
- Despite the admirable standard, Neville easily passes for being the one to sustain Dumbledore's Army for months and cut down Nagini, the last of the Horcruxes, which not only directly enabled Harry to beat Voldemort, but singlehandedly stopped the aforementioned satanic alternate timeline.
- Much like Luna Lovegood, Rowan Khanna, and Jacob Kowalski, Neville doesn't even have so much as a single subverted corrupting factor whatsoever.
Films[]
- He gives Harry the plant he needs to breathe underwater.
- When hearing Harry Potter hadn't rescued his person during the sea rescue challenge yet, he feels guilty that he may have killed Harry or put his life in danger.
- He was the one to discover the Room of Requirement to Harry.
- He scorned the Death Eaters when they looked for Harry in the Hogwarts Train.
