Nicodemus is one of the main protagonists of the 1971 novel Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien, as well as its 1982 animated film adaptation The Secret of NIMH and a posthumous character in its 1998 direct-to-video animated sequel, The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue. He is the wise and pure leader of the Rats of NIMH.
He was voiced by Derek Jacobi.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Helped lead his fellow rats and mice that were experimented on by NIMH to freedom.
- Sought to lead the rats towards a moral, responsible future.
- Opposed theft of the farmer's resources, instead opting to have the rats provide for themselves.
- Informed Mrs. Frisby/Brisby as to the true nature of her husband's death.
- Agreed to move Mrs. Brisby's house and children to safety.

- Safeguarded the magical stone so that Jenner could not use it for evil.
- Gave the stone to Mrs. Brisby and explained its function.
- Prophesied Timmy Brisby's salvation of the Rats of NIMH.
