Norman Babcock is the titular main protagonist of the 2012 Laika film ParaNorman. He is an 11-year old boy with the ability to speak with the dead who is suddenly chosen to save his hometown, Blithe's Hollow, from an ancient curse.
He is voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He was willing to forgive his own bullies even after the mistreatment they put him through.
- While he initially wasn't willing to be the one to save his hometown from its curse, he accepted it after talking with his grandmother about it.
- In spite of his generally sympathetic nature, he still calls out Agatha for how her trying to destroy Blithe's Hollow has led to her becoming no better than the judges that were responsible for killing her in the first place.
- Even though he had the opportunity to easily stop Agatha by putting her spirit to sleep for another year, he instead decided to make her realize that her actions were incorrect and that she must remember the people who loved her when she was alive instead of simply resenting those who wronged her by talking to her. He succeeds at it, and as a result, Agatha's spirit was finally able to pass on and find peace.
- By the end of the movie, he succeeds as saving his hometown Blithe's Hollow.
Trivia[]
- He is the only member of the Babcock family, as well as the only character in the movie, to be a Pure Good.
