Ochaco Uraraka (麗日お茶子), also known by her hero name, Uravity (ウラビティ, Urabiti), is one of the main characters of the My Hero Academia franchise.
She is a student at U.A. High School training to become a Pro Hero. She is one of Izuku Midoriya's closest friends and has a crush on him. She is voiced by Ayane Sakura in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Luci Christian in the English version.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- She is shown to be very loyal to UA High, her classmates and her teammates.
- She is supportive and sympathetic of her classmates, especially Izuku, Tsuyu and Tenya.
- She’s even shown to be close friends with Minoru (despite knowing about his perversion), and although antagonistic to Katsuki sometimes, it’s only because of how he treats Izuku, and she’s otherwise friendly to him too.
- Although she originally became a hero for the money (although it was mainly to help her parents' financial troubles), she eventually subverts this when she realizes how important her job is and vows to protect others, proving she understood and realized that people’s safety is more important than money.
- Although she does get jealous when other girls interact with Izuku, she is never rude to said girls.
- While Izuku, Eijiro and Shoto are more admirable than her, Ochaco still manages to stand out due to having lesser resources than them.
Season 1 (The Entrance Exams Arc & The U.S.J Arc)[]
- She saves Izuku from a devastating fall during the entrance exam instead of focusing on getting more points after he saved her from the zero-point robot.
- After the exam, Ochaco goes to talk to Present Mic and asks to give some of her points to Izuku in order to pay him back.
- She wants to help her parents have a better and easier life to be a hero and earn money. This goal is rather noble and shows that she isn't motivated by any other selfish desires.
- She fought against the villains attacking the U.S.J, even preventing Kurogiri from attacking Tenya, who went on to warn the Pro Heroes of the villains' attack.
Season 2 (The U.A Sports Festival & Hero Killer Arcs)[]
- Fought bravely against Katsuki despite his superior skill, seriously injuring herself all to win and fulfill her dream of making money so her parents can live easier lives. Due to her determination, Katsuki gained respect for her.
- She is shown to be proud of Izuku choosing his hero name to be "Deku", since she gave a different meaning on the name.
- She is concerned for Tenya after his brother was attacked by Stain, then goes with Izuku to tell him that they're always there to talk if he needed to.
- Tries to save Izuku from Tomura when Tomura was holding him captive at the mall (unaware Tomura had no intention of killing him).
Season 3 (The Forest Training Arc & The Hideout Raid Arc)[]
- Saves Tsuyu from Himiko during the League of Villain's invasion of the training camp.
- Cheers for All Might as he fought All For One.
Season 4 (The Shie Hassaikai Arc)[]
- Comforts Deku after he feels guilty for initially failing to save Eri from Overhaul.
- Works alongside Tsuyu and Nejire to defeat Rikiya during the Yakuza invasion.
- Helps in the mission to save Eri.
- When told Overhaul would kill Izuku, she desperately tries to find a way to help Izuku while also helping Nighteye after he’d been mortally wounded by Overhaul.
- After Sir Nighteye's death, Ochaco beomes determined to save lives and ensure no one died on her watch like Nighteye did.
My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising[]
- Along with Class 1-A, she helps the citizens of Nabu Island with day-to-day activities and patrol.
- She helps evacuate citizens to a safe area while her classmates fought off Chimera.
- She participates in the plan to separate Nine's group and stop Nine from reaching Katsuma. Even when injured, she still rushes toward Nine to try and float him and restrict his movements.
Season 5 (The Joint Training Arc)[]
- Helps Izuku regain control of himself when he awakened Blackwhip during the Joint Training arc, preventing Izuku from unintentionally hurting anyone.
- She helps stop some drug smugglers and prevents a plane filled with drugs from falling into the ocean and contaminating the water.
My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission[]
- Dismisses the news of Deku being a mass murderer, stating she knows Deku would never do that.
- Helps search for Humarise trigger bombs to stop Flect Turn’s plans of genocide on Quirk users.
- Attempted to float the Trigger bomb into the air with her, being willing to take the full bully of the blast to protect the city.
Season 6 (The Paranormal Liberation War Arc & The Dark Hero Arc)[]
- Participated in the Paranormal Liberation War to stop the Paranormal Liberation Front.
- Although it could be said she was harsh to Himiko in their fight, she wasn’t only right in a way, but she eventually subverts this when she tried to understand, show compassion be sympathetic and understand Himiko
- Saves two children and many other lives alongside Tsuyu during Gigantomachia's rampage and in the aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War.
- Goes after Izuku and tried to safely capture him alongside her classmates, explicitly stating they were worried for him as his friends.
- As the citizens object to Izuku returning to UA High because of the belief Tomura is targeting him, she holds his hand while smiling and tells him not to worry.
- She took Present Mic's megaphone to speak to the crowd, defending Izuku for why he left and what he had to do, praising him as the ultimate hero. Ochaco's speech causes the crowd to ease their panic and begin to understand Izuku. Her words manage to deeply touch Izuku to the point he falls on the ground in tears, and also moves Kota Izumi and the mutant woman he saved earlier to speak up for their savior and comfort him.
My Hero Academia: You're Next![]
- She played a crucial role in helping to evacuate civilians trapped in Dark Might's flying fortress.
Season 7 (The Final War Arc)[]
- Decided to try and understand Himiko after feeling and how their second encounter ended.
- Used her Zero Gravity to safely get all the Pro's and students back to the ground.
- She was likely the first one to compliment Himiko’s smile saying it was very beautiful and lovely
- Offered to give Himiko her blood for the rest of her life
- Managed to talk Himiko down and sympathize with her during the final war, asking Himiko to tell her her backstory after she told her why she became a hero and what she realized she really wanted to do , eventually getting Himiko to stop being violent and hugging her to calm her down, even after Himiko stabbed her. She listened to Himiko’s backstory and understood her
- She tried to stop Himiko from sacrificing herself.
Manga[]
- She encouraged Izuku on defeating All For One.
- Felt incredible guilt of Himiko's death, believing that Himiko deserved to live instead of her.
- After graduating from U.A, she joined Tenya, Tsuyu and Momo in travelling across elementary schools to inspire students across the nation.
- She spearheaded a campaign to give easier access to Quirk counseling so more people can get help before they can be pushed into villainy, causing a drop in the emergence of new villains.
- This is heavily implied to be in memory of Himiko and to prevent other kids from experiencing what she did.
- Joined her former classmates to help out with a landslide reported by Hawks, dedicating the rest of her career to reaching out to help others.
