~ Optimus Primal to the Autobots and Maximals about Unicron after he trapped for now |
Optimus Primal is the tritagonist of the 2023 film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
After the death of his mentor, Apelinq, he is the current leader of the Maximals following Unicron's destruction of their home planet, having hidden away on Earth with the Transwarp Key so that Unicron couldn't use it to travel across and destroy the entire unvierse. He named himself after Optimus Prime, the legendary leader of the Autobots.
He is voiced by Ron Perlman, who also voiced the character's counterpart in the Prime Wars trilogy.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He fought back against the Terrorcon forces on his Homeworld when Apelinq entrusts him with the TransWarp Key and gives him the mission of leaving the planet to keep it safe.
- Despite Primal's insistence of staying to fight for his home, he eventually relents knowing that this is for the greater good and leaves with a team of Maximals. This caused Unicron to remain stuck in an empty galaxy with no more planets to consume as without the TransWarp, he was unable to move to new corners of the universe.
- Primal shown sympathy when his mentor and father-figure, Apelinq sacrifced himself to ensure Primal and the other escaped from Unicron.
- After Unicron destroyed his home, Prime and his fellow Maximals took an oath to dedicate the preservation of life no matter cost as well staying on Earth is a safe refugee.
- He eventually reached Earth and established a new base in Peru, where he would befriend the tribes of humans and grow to respect them as equals and friends, remaining with them and protecting them for several generations. At some point, he split the key in half and established a hidden tomb filled with riddles and secrets in order to hide his half the TransWarp key where it could not be found while Airazor hid the other half in a buried ancient statue of herself.
- At some point, he grew to trust humanity more, he eventually moved the key and entrusted it to the human tribe he had been with for centuries. Eventually he parted ways with Airazor, but remained in Peru with Cheetor and Rhinox to protect the humans they had befriended.
- He intercepted Noah and Elena when they infiltrated the tomb as they were possible enemies. He was then confronted by Optimus Prime but Airazor stopped the standoff and cleared things up, which led Primal to apologize for his aggression and respectfully greet his namesake, agreeing to guide them to the other half of the key and help stop Scourge.
- While he had a talk with Airazor about how Prime differed from his views on him, he eventually came to understand how much his losses had affected him and accepted him as a leader and warrior to follow into battle.
- He also helped make a makeshift grave for Bee and promised Optimus that his friend would be at peace there, also helping him better his views on humans and helping Prime overcome his reluctance to trust or even interact with humans.
- He defended the humans from the now corrupted Airazor, and tried to chase after her to help bring her back to normal.
- The Maximals and Autobots then encountered Scourge and the Terrorcons which resulted in a battle during which Scourge took the remaining half of the TransWarp Key.
- While fighting Airazor, she convinced Primal that she had to be killed for the greater good and reminded him that they had made a promise to protect this planet "no matter the cost", which forced Primal to kill Airazor, freeing her from Scourge's corruption. He then mourned his friend and payed his respects.
- Later, Optimus and Noah convinced everyone to band together and make a last stand against Scourge, which Primal joined and participated in.
- He led the Maximals into battle and worked together with the Autobots to fight through Scourge's forces, taking down Battletrap and killing him with his own wrecking ball.
- Eventually Prime decided to stay and sacrifice himself to destroy the TransWarp, to which Primal told him they'll remember his sacrifice. He then took his allies to safety before returning to help Noah save Optimus and then escaping together. Primal then warned his friends about the potential return of Unicron in the future, to which Prime replied they'll be ready and waiting.
- He then remained in Peru with the Maximals, forming an alliance with the Autobots to protect humanity and prepare for Unicron's possible return.
- Though he did kill Battletrap with his own wrecking ball, the Terrorcons are servants of Unicron who care about nothing other than themselves, helped in the destruction of Primal's planet and were on the verge of bringing Unicron to consume Earth and kill trillions; So it's pretty understandable why the Terrorcons had to be taken out, and it's made clear that Primal takes no pleasure at all in taking others' lives, especially after he was forced to take Airazor's.
- Despite the admirable standard being quite high, Primal stands out enough because he was the one who took the TransWarp Key away in the first place and left Unicron trapped for thousands of years in an empty galaxy where he couldn't consume more worlds, saving thousands of planets from being destroyed by the Evil Transformer God. Not to mention he was the first cybertronian shown to trust humanity and entrust them with the TransWarp Key, as well as his contributions in the final battle and later saving both Noah and Optimus.
Trivia[]
