Optimus Prime is the main protagonist in the Aligned continuity of the Transformers franchise, serving as the titular main protagonist of Transformers: Prime and the overarching protagonist of Robots in Disguise (2015).
He is the wise leader of the Autobots and last of the Primes that protects Earth following the remergence of the Decepticons. Though he sacrifices himself to restore life to Cybertron following the end of the Great War, his ghost form reappears years later to send Bumblebee back to Earth with a team to protect the planet from new threats and he ultimately gets revived to aid them.
He is voiced by Peter Cullen, who also voiced his G1 version.

In General[]
- Despite his stoic demeanor, he is a deeply compassionate person that cares for practically all life.
- He is a pacifist at heart that seeks peaceful resolutions to conflicts whenever possible.
Background[]
- He was a passionate social activist that worked with his mentor/best friend Megatron to end Cybertron's unequal society.
- Unlike Megatron, he never sought power for himself or violent revolution, instead winning over the High Council through his eloquent demands for peaceful reform.
- He deeply regretted Megatron's turn to villainy and viewed him as a surrogate brother, partially blaming himself for Megatron spitefully starting the Great War despite it not being his fault at all.
- He formed and led the Autobots to combat Megatron's Decepticons during the Great War.
- After Megatron poisoned the Core, he journeyed there himself to try to heal it to prevent Cybertron from being rendered uninhabitable.
- It was this innate nobility that convinced Primus to bestow the Matrix of Leadership to Orion Pax, officially anoiting him Optimus Prime.
- He ejected the Allspark into space to prevent Megatron from getting his hands on it.
- After the Great Exodus from Cybertron, Optimus and his "Team Prime" traveled to Earth and allied with the U.S. goverment, being granted a base in an abandoned missile silo in Jasper, Nevada in exchange for protecting Earth and preventing collateral damage, a promise Prime upheld.
- He sent a message into space, inviting all surviving Autobots to Earth.
Transformers: Prime[]
- He gave Cliffjumper's eulogy and reminded the Autobots to continue on in order to honor his death.
- After three human kids (Jack, Miko, and Rafael) got caught between Autobot/Decepticon fighting, he had them brought to the Autobot base and revealed the truth about the Transformers to them.
- He assigned Arcee, Bulkhead, and Bumblebee to Jack, Miko, and Rafael respectively.
- He saved Ratchet from his animated tool and correctly deduced it and Cliffjumper were revived via Dark Energon into zombie "Terrorcons"
- He destroyed Megatron's Terrorcon army, being horrified Megatron would desecrate his own fallen troops.
- He led the Autobots in saving Earth from a Terrorcon apocalypse, distracting Megatron while Arcee was able to destroy the space bridge to prevent the Terrorcon army from coming through.
- After Megatron's seeming demise, he regretted not being able to redeem him.
- He was supportive of the Autobots helping their human kids with their science fair projects.
- He tried to redeem Skyquake and convince Starscream to end the Great War peacefully through a truce.
- He buried Skyquake after Bumblebee killed him and regretted not being able to redeem him.
- He comforted Arcee when it seemed they would freeze to death in the Arctic.
- He prevented Silas from causing a nuclear meltdown that would irradiate Nevada and the four adjacent states.
- He saved Jack's bully Vince from Knock Out.
- He investigated an Autobot ship's distress call to find any survivors.
- He prevented Starscream from melting a glacier that would've destroyed human coastal cities.
- He led the Autobots to rescue Breakdown from MECH, despite Breakdown being their enemy.
- He was willing to let Starscream join the Autobots despite everything he did.
- He tried to get Megatron to briefly lend the Data Cylinder to Jim so the Autobots could remove it's absorbed info from Bulkhead's mind to save him, promising to give the full Data Cylinder back to the Deceptions.
- He stopped Ratchet from killing a defenseless Vehicon and forgave him for his Synth-Energon-fueled rampage.
- After Megatron severely wounds Rafael with Dark Energon, he realizes the Great War can't end peacefully and challenges Megatron to a one-on-one duel to the death.
- Realizing Megatron was the only one who could lead them to Unicron's spark chamber in the core of Earth, he agreed to team up with him pragmatically to defeat the Chaos-Bringer.
- He sacrificed the Matrix of Leadership to prevent Unicron from reemerging, not only saving Earth from being annihilated, but also all existence from being threatened, even though he suspected he would die but survived and lost his memory.
- Although Megatron was briefly able to manipulate an amnesiac Optimus, now back as Orion Pax, into joining the Deceptions, he quickly realized that something wasn't right and figured out the truth.
- Despite having no memory of who is at the time, he decided to stop Megatron from destroying the Matrix, even though he didn't remember much on how to fight.
- After getting his memories back, he defeated Megatron to save the Autobots.
- He worked to decode the Iacon database that listed the locations of hidden Cybertronian relics on Earth so the Autobots could retrieve them.
- He saved Bulkhead from Dreadwing by forcing Dreadwing to deactivate his bomb.
- He agreed to let Megatron go if Dreadwing had his men let the Autobots leave, a deal both Prime and Dreadwing upheld though Megatron didn't.
- He defeated Silas' mech Nemesis Prime to stop him from wreaking havoc while impersonating him.
- He smoothed things over with General Bryce and the U.S government, holding no grudges that they falsely attributed Nemesis Prime's actions to him.
- He convinced Dreadwing to team up to stop a rogue Starscream with the Apex Armor, defeating him together.
- He let Smokescreen join Team Prime.
- Reminded Smokescreen not to endanger someone’s safety again instead of kicking him off the team for putting Jack in danger while trying to obtain the Star Saber.
- He recovered the Star Saber and figured out the purpose of the Omega Keys thanks to Alpha Trion's embedded message within the blade.
- Was disappointed that Arcee went too far in reprimanding Smokescreen, upsetting him to the point of leaving the base, after failing a mission with Bulkhead.
- After Dreadwing gave them the Forge of Solus Prime and revealed his disillusionment with the Decepticon cause, Optimus offered him a chance to join the Autobots once more.
- He destroyed the Omega Lock to prevent the Decepticons from cyberforming Earth and wiping out humanity, sacrificing Cybertron's chance of revival in the process.
- He deduced the Decepticons had learned the location of their base by building their fortress Darkmount in Jasper.
- He had Team Prime split up and bridged out to random locations to avoid capture.
- He sacrificed himself to destroy Team Prime's groundbridge to prevent the Decepticons from following them just as they blew the Autobot base to smithereens, fatally wounding him.
- He had Smokescreen recover the Forge of Solus Prime from the Decepticons, but refused to heal himself with it, instead wanting the Autobots to use it to repair the Omega Lock.
- He offered the Matrix of Leadership to Smokescreen just as he died (though Smokescreen refused and use the Forge of Solus Prime to heal him).
- After being reborn, he rescued Team Prime from being executed by the Decepticons and ensured the destruction of Darkmount.
- He advised Ultra Magnus to practice a gentler command style instead of being a rigid control freak.
- He captured Soundwave and interrogated him peacefully to try and learn the Decepticon's plot.
- He led the Autobots in their final assault on the Nemesis and informed their human allies of Megatron's demise at the hands of Bumblebee who had gotten his voice back.
- He had Ratchet use the reconstructed Omega Lock to revive Cybertron
- He promoted Bumblebee to the rank of warrior and charged him with leading Cybertron's reconstruction efforts while he recovered the Allspark.
- He battled a returned Unicron in Megatron's body and attempted to get Megatron to break free of Unicron's possession.
- He prevented Unicron from permanently rendering Cybertron uninhabitable by trapping him in the Allspark's container at the cost of uploading the Allspark into the Matrix.
- He sacrificed himself to give the Allspark back to Cybertron's Core and ensured the birth of new generations, reminding the Autobots that anyone could change as seen with Megatron and Knock Out's redemption.
Transformers: Robots in Disguise[]
- He sent Bumblebee a vision calling him back to Earth to protect it from the recently released prisoners of the Alchemor, thereby being directly responsible for the heroism of the series as the Bigger Good.
- He defeated starter villain Underbite to save Denny Clay.
- He complimented Bumblebee and his new team before fading away.
- After officially getting revived by the Primes, he saved Denny, Russell, and Fixit from Fracture and his two Mini-Cons.
- He tried to stop Megatronus from being released from his imprisonment.
- He ultimately listened to Bumblebee's plan and helped the Bee team stop Megatronus to save both Earth and Cybertron.
- He led the "away team" to round up Alchemor prisoners far from the Bee team's base.
- Though he had some conflict with Bumblebee over leadership and strategy, he realized his mistake and took the initiative to reconcile with Bumblebee.
- He defeated Steeljaw to allow Bumblebee to activate the cryo bomb to incapacitate all the Alchemor prisoners on "Decepticon Island".
- He piloted a repaired Alchemor back to Cybertron to hand over the Alchemor prisoners, reminding Bumblebee to call him whenever he needed him.
- He helped the Bee Team defeat a returned Starscream once and for all. He was going to take the weaponized Mini-cons to find a new home and never be found, but aware they don't want to be anywhere close to Starscream as Optimus expected. Optimus also secured Megatron's Dark Star Saber.
- He defeated Laserbeak and took him and Soundwave back to Cybertron to face justice.
- He investigated the shady High Council and eventually figured out they had blacklisted all Autobot veterans of the Great War and plotted to invade Earth.
- He came up with a plan to have the Bee Team infiltrate Cybertron while his team protected Earth.
- He saved Earth from a Cybertronian invasion by destroying the High Council's space bridge.
- After the Bee team defeated the High Council and exposed them as Decepticons, he turned down an offer to become Cybertron's leader and instead appointed a provisional government until elections could be held.
