Pure Good Wiki

You know, someday you're gonna wind up all alone. And you'll have no one to blame but yourself.
~ Pacha to Kuzco

Pacha is the deuteragonist of Disney's 38th full-length animated feature film The Emperor's New Groove, a supporting character in its 2005 sequel Kronk's New Groove and a major character in The Emperor's New School.

He is a peasant of the Incan Empire who helps the emperor, Kuzco, get back to his empire after having been turned into a llama on the condition that his village not be destroyed. Pacha and Kuzco eventually form a friendship, and Pacha's village is spared.

He was voiced by John Goodman in the movie and second season of the TV series and Fred Tatasciore in the TV series season 1.

Pacha is a very loving, compassionate, and empathetic father. He cares deeply about his family and about his village, and is horrified when he learns Kuzco plans to destroy it to make room for a swimming pool. However, his deep sense of compassion also extends to others: he decides to help Kuzco on the condition that the emperor not destroy his village. Furthermore, Pacha puts up with Kuzco's selfish and inconsiderate attitude, refusing to abandon him despite him having left Pacha to die and his plans to destroy Pacha's village.

What Makes Him Pure Good?

  • When he sees an old man hanging from a banner after having been thrown out the window by Kuzco, Pacha immediately helps him down and asks him if he's alright.
  • Pacha tries to warn Kuzco not to go into the jungle alone due to the many dangers he'd face.
  • Even when Kuzco refuses to spare Pacha's village and go back to the palace on his own, Pacha goes out into the jungle to find him, then saves him from being eaten by jaguars.
  • He attempts to convince Kuzco to not force his people out of the village and to not be so self-centered.
  • When Kuzco throws a rock at his head, Pacha doesn't retaliate and simply dismisses him.
  • Upon seeing Kuzco shivering in cold, he puts his shirt over Kuzco's body to keep him warm.
  • After Kuzco decides to spare his village, Pacha thanks him for changing his mind.
  • While Pacha does get in a fight with Kuzco, his anger is more than justified, since Kuzco went back on his word, was ready to leave Pacha to fall to his death and was still planning to destroy Pacha's village.
  • He manages to keep both himself and Kuzco from falling down to a crocodile-infested river.
  • After Kuzco saves Pacha's life, he is very pleased, openly stating there was some good in Kuzco after all and leading him back to the palace.
  • When overhearing Yzma's plans to kill Kuzco, Pacha tries to warn Kuzco about their plan and stop him from approaching them.
  • Pacha refuses to abandon Kuzco again despite having been insulted by him, still believing there to be good in him and wanting to help Kuzco.
  • He forgives Kuzco for his horrible behavior towards Pacha and leaving him to die.
  • He goes back to the palace to help Kuzco return to human form.
  • After getting the vial to return him to human, Pacha hugs Kuzco in relief.
  • He suggests for Kuzco to build his summer home on the hill next to the village.
  • He redeems Kuzco, getting him to stop being so selfish and think about others and feel remorse for his terrible behavior.
  • In the spin-off series, The Emperor's New School, Pacha acts as a father figure to Kuzco, giving him guidance and wisdom when he needs it and helping him graduate high school to become emperor again.
