Paddington Bear is the titular main protagonist of the Paddington film series. He is the main protagonist of both the 2014 film, its 2017 sequel and its upcoming 2024 sequel.

He is a brown bear who comes to London after the passing of his uncle. He is also the adoptive son of the Brown family.

He is voiced by Ben Whishaw.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

  • Noticing a hungry pigeon, he agreed to give some of his sandwich (he refused to give it to others because the sandwich was an emergency).
  • Hearing Judy says that she needed to clean her face, he solved the problem by licking her face.
  • Realizing that a man (Andre) lost "his" wallet, he decided to go after him to return it and despite Andre trying to run away, Paddington continued to chase him until he managed to return it (because of this, he was eventually arrested for all the wallets he stole).
  • Knowing that the Geographers' Guild was trying to hide a secret, he convinced Henry to help him find out.
  • He tried looking for Montgomery Clyde to get him a home.
  • When Henry tried to sacrifice himself and his family for him, Paddington asked them not to.
  • He used his emergency sandwich to try to take Millicent down.
  • Because of Paddington, the Browns (and Mrs. Bird) have changed for the better.
  • He wrote several letters to his elderly aunt to learn of the events.
  • In the sequel, he brought luck to a lot of people.
    • When he was arrested, these people got unlucky because of his absence and that's why they helped the Browns clear his name.
  • He wanted to buy a really nice gift for his aunt's 100th birthday as thanks for all she'd done for him.
  • Although he didn't know that Phoenix Buchanan was a thief (and the grandson of a murderer), he was friendly with him during their first conversation.
  • He got a job cleaning windows to get money.
  • Despite one man refusing to let him clean the window and saying he wouldn't pay, he cleaned it anyway and with that, he could see the outside.
  • He tried to stop Buchanan from escaping with the stolen book.
  • According to Samuel Gruber, even if Paddington wanted to keep something very valuable, he would never dare try to steal it.
  • He gave the other prisoners permission to do their hilling, and as time passed, they became friendly.
    • Later, three prisoners Knuckles, Phibs, and Spoon became heroes by saving him from drowning and were eventually pardoned (Knuckles was even able to open a sandwich business).
  • He refused to run away, as he knew the Browns would not forget him, but later accepted when they didn't show up (actually they just forgot to visit him), he ran just to clear his name and not to hide.
  • He and the Browns stopped Buchanan from escaping and taking treasure that isn't his, although Paddington didn't defeat him directly, the Browns fixed the problem and made him pay for his crimes.
  • After he couldn't get the book for his aunt, he chose to take her to London.

Trivia[]

  • Only the film version of Paddington counts as Pure Good, as it is currently debatable whether or not the book and TV show versions of Paddington also counts.
