Pokey Minch is the main antagonist of the official Mother 2 Novelization of the video game of the same name by Saori Kumi.
Similarly to his original counterpart, he is the next-door neighbor of Ness R. and his former best friend/rival. Due to severe bullying from peers and abuse from his father, he became a spiteful delinquent. He ends up becoming the host of Giygas who causes him to develop inhuman changes and tries to get used to his new powers while Ness tries to stop him.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Upon being reasoned with by Ness, he showed remorse for all of his actions and asked Ness to kill and take Giygas with him to save the universe.
- He separated himself from Giygas, allowing Ness to defeat him.
- Though Ness and the others do more than him, Pokey was in an immovable state due to being confined by Giygas, meaning his resources are much more limited when he does his most admirable act.
- Although he initially had many corrupting factors and committed some horrid crimes willingly, in the new timeline, that had been completely undone and he has none of the corrupting factors he used too, being a kind older brother to Ness.
Trivia[]
- He is so far the only EarthBound Pure Good to be approved so far, outside of the main games.
- Ironically, his original counterpart from the video games is Pure Evil due to never redeeming himself and being portrayed as much less of a victim of Giygas.
