Jasmine is the deuteragonist of Disney's 31st full-length animated feature film Aladdin and a supporting protagonist in The Return of Jafar, Aladdin and the King of Thieves and Aladdin: The Animated Series.
She is the daughter of The Sultan, who is the emperor of Agrabah as well as the love interest and later wife of the titular protagonist, Aladdin. She is the first Disney Princess to be of non-Caucasian and the 6th Disney Princess in the official line-up.
She is voiced by Linda Larkin, with Lea Salonga doing her singing voice (Liz Calloway did her singing voice in the sequels).
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- Despite being upset with her father pressuring her to get married before her birthday, Jasmine maintains a good relationship with him.
- Said goodbye to Rajah before she ran away from home.
- While wandering the markets of Agrabah, Jasmine noticed a hungry little boy and gave him an apple, not caring about having to pay for it.
- Despite running away from home, Jasmine returned in order to confront Jafar over arresting Aladdin.
- She suspected that "Prince Ali" is actually Aladdin, the plucky street rat she fell for, but kindly let him convince her that "he really is a prince".
- She helped Aladdin stop Jafar from taking over Agrabah.
- She forgave and stayed with Aladdin, despite all the lies he told her.
- She befriended Iago when he escaped and was slowly switching sides.
- While she was mad at Iago when the latter tried to rescue her, this was justified, since he did betray her to help Jafar, which he did out of reluctance.
- She forgave Iago, and considered him a friend to her, despite the fact he used to serve Jafar.
- She has helped Aladdin and his friends by aiding them during their adventures throughout the series.
- She doesn’t hold a grudge towards Sadira during her attempts to get Aladdin to love her.
- She forgave Sadira, as she and the latter both made a friendship after they started bonding with each other. She even tried to save her from the Witches of the Sand.
- She helped Aladdin and his friends stop several threats.
- Although their are times when she wants to be right about something, she will admit when she is wrong, is capable of acknowledging her mistakes and learning from them as well.
- She was willing to sacrifice herself various times such as when she saved a boy named Tanti or when she sacrificed herself to thieves for Aladdin.
- She helped stop a few of the forty thieves when they were stealing during her and Aladdin’s wedding.
- She convinced Aladdin to spend some time with his father, Cassim.
- Despite the fact that Cassim was planning to steal the Oracle, she forgave him as he was willing to defend him when telling the Sultan about it.
- She and the Genie convince the Sultan that Aladdin helped his father out of love.
- She went with Aladdin to rescue his father, Cassim, after the latter was kidnapped by Sa’Luk.
- She helps Aladdin rescue his father, Cassim.
Trivia[]
- Originally, Jasmine was Near Pure Good due to being a little arrogant and wrathful. It was later decided that she qualifies for Pure Good after a successful re-proposal.
