Pure Good Wiki
NOTE: This article is only about her The Princess and the Frog version as her Sofia the First and Wreck-It Ralph versions have not been approved as Pure Good, and thus, only The Princess and the Frog version of Tiana's info and actions should be put here.

You can't get what you want just by wishing for it.
~ Tiana
My daddy never did get what he wanted. But he had what he needed. He had love! He never lost sight of what was really important! And neither will I!
~ Tiana confronting Dr. Facilier about her father.
Ariel, not a day goes by where I don't miss my daddy with every bit of my heart. If I can help you avoid that pain, I will.
~ Lego Tiana to Lego Ariel.

Princess Tiana Diane Rogers is the main protagonist of Disney's 49th full-length animated feature film The Princess and the Frog.

She is the 9th Disney Princess in the official lineup, the first to be African-American, and the final one to be drawn in 2D animation, thus the first to be voiced by an actual African-American (Anika Noni Rose).

She is voiced by Anika Noni Rose as an adult and by Elizabeth Dampier as her younger self.

What Makes Her Pure Good?[]

  • She is kind to everyone.
  • She shows immense concern and love towards her family, especially with her late father, whom she wanted to open a restaurant for in the first place, in his honor and to remember him.
  • Many people are impressed with her kind spirit.
  • She removed a leech from Naveen's arm.
  • She saved Naveen’s life multiple times.
  • She remained determined to achieve her dreams to open a restaurant, in order to honor her late father's memory.
  • She made swamp gumbo and shared it with her friends.
  • She rejected a rather tempting offer from Dr. Facilier to help her dad get his own restaurant once she realizes that he already had what was truly important and refused to give the talisman back to him.
  • Although she has a brief heating up moment, where she bluntly tries to crush Ray's dreams about Evangeline, this was out of heartbreak that Naveen seemingly married Charlotte, as well as her thinking she was sparing Ray from being hurt too.
  • She stood up to Dr. Facilier, saving a lot of people in New Orleans from falling victim to the Voodoo Spirits.
  • Although she did destroy Dr. Facilier’s talisman (making her directly responsible for his death), she did it solely to deprive him of his powers, knowing he couldn't be trusted with them. She didn’t know the Voodoo Spirits would drag him away to their world, (nor did she know he was in debt) and was horrified witnessing it.
    • This act also saved the New Orleans residents from him, as he was planning to give them to the Voodoo Spirits to pay off his debt (even though it was his own fault he was in debt) and also the fate that he was subjected to was the exact fate that the New Orleans residents would have suffered if he succeeded.
  • She held no animosity to Charlotte for failing to kiss Naveen on time, saying that she could be happy as a frog so long as she and Naveen were together.
  • In the video game, she accepted the frog hunters apology for what happened in the movie and even reminded them that they couldn't have known it was her and Naveen, nor could they have known they were hunting sapient frogs. She also invites them to the opening of her restaurant.

Trivia[]

  • She is the only Disney Princess to have only a mother, and the first to have both her speaking and singing voices done by the same person since Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
  • She is currently the last Pure Good from the Disney Animated Canon to be traditionally animated. Starting with Princess Rapunzel, the succeeding Disney Pure Goods are all CGI-animated.
  • With her being approved as a Pure Good, this currently makes the 2000s the only decade where every single one of its Disney Animated Canon films has at least an introduced Pure Good.
