Queen Elsa (also known as Elsa) is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Anna) of Disney's Frozen franchise. She is the queen of the kingdom of Arendelle and the older sister of Anna.
She was voiced by Broadway veteran Idina Menzel as a young adult, and by Eva Bella and Spencer L. Ganus as a child.
She enjoyed entertaining Anna with her magic as kids.
Although she hit Anna with her magic, which caused the events of the first movie, she only did so in a desperate attempt to save Anna from a fall that would potentially hurt her, and later felt big remorse for their accident.
Hid her powers from her sister and the nation in order to prevent accidentally hurting them.
Frozen[]
While it was harsh to refuse Anna and Hans' engagement, it was with reason (she actually tried to talk about it privately before Anna insisted to be outright): her sister was jumping into a sudden engagement without any idea of who Hans is. Kristoff, an antisocial recluse, even further pointed out that Anna should know more about Hans before even considering marriage. She was ultimately proven right, as Hans was actually using Anna's naivety in his scheme take the throne of Arendelle.
Went into self-imposed exile so that her powers won't harm any innocent people.
Although she froze Arendelle into an eternal winter, she only did so by accident and was genuinely horrified after learning the truth from Anna and saw it for herself.
Only created Marshmallow to make Anna and Kristoff give up bringing her back, not meaning them any genuine harm.
Undoes the eternal winter on Arendelle as atonement for her past mistakes.
Even though she bans trade with Weselton and exiles the Duke, it's only because he attempted to commit regicide by killing her.

While she started out cold and aloof, it was ensured she could control her powers. Once she gains better control of her magic, she subverts these corrupting qualities and becomes more sociable.
Frozen II[]
While she caused a commotion in Arendelle by awakening the spirits of the Enchanted Forest, it was entirely unintentional on her behalf as she didn't know it until Grand Pabbie came to console the Arendellians.
She helps free the Northuldrans from the cursed enchanted forest whilst finding the truth about her grandfather King Runeard and how he tried wipe them out.
She saved Arendelle from a tidal wave sent forth after Runeard's dam was destroyed by the Earth Giants.
Ultimately decides to settle in the Enchanted Forest out of her desire to use her powers to her full potential in wide, open spaces.
Polar Nights: Cast into Darkness[]
While she had to cast Anna and Olaf away before she went to Ahtohallan, it was for their own safety as it's revealed in the novel that only Elsa herself and the elemental spirits can access Ahtohallan.
Helps Ingr clear her sister, Sissel's name, after she was reanimated into a Drugar with her remaining grudge on the sisters and King Runeard, helping to lay her soul to rest when it's revealed that Runeard blamed Ingr for killing her sister so that he could continue gathering support for his dam.
