Queen Serenity is the overarching protagonist of Sailor Moon. She was the ruler of the Moon Kingdom in the past and the mother of Princess Serenity.
In Japanese, she was voiced by Mika Doi in the classic anime and Mami Koyama in Crystal and Eternal, while in English, she was voiced by Barbara Radecki and Wendy Lyon in the DiC dub of the classic anime and Wendee Lee in the Viz dub of the classic anime, Crystal and Eternal.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- She was loyal to her duty of keeping the peace on the Moon Kingdom and protecting the Solar System from evil threats.
- She trained the Sailor Gardians to turn them into guardians who will help her to protect the kingdom.
- She sealed Queen Nehelenia, preventing her from taking over the Moon Kingdom.
- She is extremely benevolent, she is always very calm, affable and comprehensive with everyone. She is never prejudiced, as is shown when she waited to make sure that Queen Nehelenia was evil to seal her.
- She took care of her daughter during her life, she always encouraged her when the princess had visions of Queen Nehelenia due her curse and she was always attentive to her, understanding when the princess was curious about the people of the Earth and when she fell in love with Prince Endymion. As well, both had a good relationship.
- Although she and her army took part in the war between the Moon and the Earth, which took many lives, she only did it to defend her kingdom, since Queen Metalia was the one who wanted to take control of the Moon and Queen Serenity had no choice. She also mourns the deaths of many of the victims.
- She sacrificed her life to seal Queen Metalia and Queen Beryl to seal them, preventing them from conqering the Solar System, and reincarnated all their victims in the Earth. During her last moments, she asked Luna and Artemis to find Princess Serenity and the other Sailor Guardians on Earth when they are reincarnated so they could protect the Earth from future threats when the time comes.
- When the reincarnated Sailor Guardians met her spirit in the Moon, she brought back their memories of their past life, making them understand the reason why they are the Sailor Guardians and the importance of their mission.
- When the Moon Kingdom is restored after Queen Metalia's defeat, she gives Sailor Moon a new transformation brooch with more power than the first one since the kingdom was restored and the power of their sources has resurged. In the original manga version, she also gives to the other Sailor Guardians new transformation pens, also with more power.
- She was never shown killing anyone, since she was limited to sealing Nehelenia and Metalia, and she only harms when it is extremely necessary.
