~ Ralsei to Kris before leaving Castle Town. |
Ralsei is the tritagonist of the indie game Deltarune.
He is a mysterious Darkner who is the Prince of Castle Town and one of the three legendary Delta Warriors, prophesied to stop the end of the world. Unlike the more violent Susie and player-determinant Kris, Ralsei fully believes the trio can defeat their enemies without using violence.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Ralsei prefers not to fight, instead talking his way through the enemies he crosses. This is true even after King betrayed his trust, and he uses violence only when necessary.
- Ralsei is also a kind and supportive friend, never (intentionally, at least) leaving their side for any reason.
- While he constantly tells Kris to imagine what Susie is doing, so the game could focus on Susie and leave the two of them alone to talk, it's been never said Ralsei is hiding anything malicious.
Chapter 1[]
- Ralsei introduces himself greeting Kris and Susie, then telling them about the prophecy, genuinely believing the three of them are meant to be together.
- He also spends the chapter helping seal the Card Kingdom Dark Fountain.
- During the training session, Ralsei immediately recommends that the player spares everyone, despite neither of them having any material benefit from the act.
- He immediately tries to befriend Lancer, who once antagonized by him on King's will.
- He's the one who suggests warning the monsters about Susie's violent tendencies.
- He feels remorse for being rude to Susie and causing her to join Lancer.
- When Susie and Lancer become an ineffectual villain team, he simply shows delight that Susie and Lancer are bonding over their shared love of (ineffectual) villainy.
- Sympathizing with King's false plight, he brings him back to full health after your fight with him. When it goes south, he apologizes to Susie for putting her in danger and learns from the experience, concluding that sometimes violence is necessary, but reaffirming his decision not to use violence when it's not.
- He also puts King to sleep, stopping his attack, in any non-pacifist route.
- He shows genuine excitement looking forward to seeing Kris and Susie again.
Chapter 2[]
- Ralsei, despite taking a level in cynicism after being tricked by King, continues being kind and supportive to allies and enemies alike, simply being more wary about being taken advantage of.
- He tells the player/Kris how to bring the Darkners to the Castle Town, providing them a home after sealing a Fountain.
- Despite his appearance in the Cyber World being unexplained, he makes it clear he simply wants to help by pacifying two Werewires who were attacking Kris and Susie.
- In one of the funnier moments of the game, he helps Kris play an arcade game with Queen by acting as a stool.
- He wants to make Kris feel special by trying to keep them as the only one in the team able to ACT. When Susie forces Ralsei to learn how to ACT on his own, believing that the two don't need Kris' help to ACT and can do it by themselves, he apologizes to Kris.
- He heals Susie by hugging her after realizing she was injured from falling from the coasters.
- He teaches Susie how to use healing magic during their time alone together.
- Upon being told that Lancer is "ill" (actually turning to stone due to how Darkners work), he apologizes for being unable to help.
- If you tell Ralsei that you're not fine after the optional Spamton NEO fight, he notices Kris is yelling and tries to comfort them. When you tell them you're fine, Ralsei and Susie point out Kris sounds like they're lying and try to comfort him.
- During the fight against GIGA Queen, he fully understands that violence is the only option and chooses to give the player tips on how they can defeat her in a fight. Despite this, he shows no true malice.
- After seeing how Berdly plans to make another Dark Fountain, he becomes uncharacteristically serious, telling him to stop right on his tracks and describing a potential apocalyptic event known as the Roaring. Despite the serious situation and him acting a bit rude to Berdly by constantly interrupting him, he truly means well, and goes back to being nice afterwards.
- He forgives Queen after she redeems herself, realising she truly didn't want to destroy the world.
- In the bonus Weird Route:
- Upon reuniting with Kris, he shows concern about them being upset, unaware that Berdly was possibly killed.
- He immediately explains the Roaring to Queen, preventing the final fight with her altogether.
Trivia[]
- Deltarune is a story that is still in progress and it's been implied numerous times that Ralsei is hiding something. While it's unknown what it is, there's a decent chance that it may affect his Pure Good status in the future.
- Along with Papyrus, he's one of the two Toby Fox characters to be Pure Good.
