Combat fatigues! That's exactly what we need! You're right!
~ Rayman to Murphy upon learning about the uses of the Hoodlums' lazer detergent
Of all the inhabitants here, you are the only one whom Polokus did not dream. You are the only one to receive powers from the fairies. Some see you as the chosen one of all the gods. Who knows...?
~ Knowledge of the World if the player collects 999-1000 Lums in the PC version of Rayman 2

Rayman is the titular main protagonist of the video game franchise of the same name, created by Ubisoft's game designer, Michel Ancel.

Rayman is an anthropomorphic humanoid-like creature with limbs and legs, with an adventurous and optimistic disposition, and who resides in the the Fairy Glade with his fellow friends, such as Globox, Betilla the Fairy, Murfy, Ly the Fairy, Grand Minimus and Barbara among them, and seeks to save the world from Mr. Dark's domination. Since his first appearance in the eponymous title in 1995, Rayman has become a legendary video game icon and is one of the most recognizable fictional characters in the world, and one of the most remarkable mascots of Ubisoft, with fans praising him for his lack of limbs and amusing personality.

He was voiced by Fumihiro Okabayashi in Japanese, and was voiced by David Gasman in English.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

In General[]

  • Unlike most of Ubisoft's other major characters and protagonists, who are often misanthropic and have several serious moments that detract their positive characteristics (such as humor and laughable moments), Rayman is a huge exception: he lacks xenophobia against humanity and shows a kindhearted disposition, and even saved them from the Rabbids in big city fights.
  • Although he did shove a plunger up a bird's bottom, it was understandable since the bird repeatedly pooped on his nose out of its own amusement each time he checked the window to see how much plungers he had to escape the Rabbids' imprisonment.
  • While Rayman did lose his temper and fire his shoe at the television when the Rabbids were trapped in it, it was justified due to the Rabbids constantly aggravating him and retaining him up and awake for several nights, thus culminating this and the previous point as heating-up periods.

His actions[]

  • Saves his world and its inhabitants from Mr. Dark.
  • Defeated Admiral Razorbeard.
  • Saving the Glade of Dreams from threats, such as Admiral Razorbeard and Andre the Black Lum.
  • Rayman gone out of his routine to save the baby Globoxes from the Rabbids.
  • In the DS/Mobile/Gameboy Advance iterations of Rayman Raving Rabbids, he manages to put an end to the Rabbids' rule and law of the Glade by defeating both of their leaders, the Rabbid's Ship and Sergueï, thus annihilating their tyranny and restoring peace.
  • In the spin-off, Rayman Kart, while he competes with the other characters during the Rabbids' invasion, he did manage to likely have the Rabbids all over the Glade waste their resources to be entirely spent, having the Rabbid's Ship's empire in turmoil and ending its reign of terror, as well as having the Rabbid's Ship fail to stop him and the other racers, liberating the world in the process.
  • Disguised himself as a Rabbid in order to prevent their invasion of Earth from continuing and increasing further.
  • In both Rayman Origins and Legends, he prevents the Magician and his army of Dark Teensies from succeeding in world domination.
  • While he prevented Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach from going up against the Phantom of the Bwahpera when he comes out of the elevator, it would be unfair to blame him since he lacked knowledge of who the Phantom was.
  • Rayman assists Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Peach and Beep-0 in defeating the Phantom of the Bhwapra.
  • Even though Beep-0 states he has knowledge of the Phantom manipulating him, Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Peach, and Rayman himself right from the start (which was confirmed to be false and it was Rayman who truthfully knew), Rayman does not argue or quarrel with him for not sharing it with them.
  • Rayman makes amends with the Rabbids after perceiving that the species have redeemed themselves from villainy, and becomes the ultimate caretaker of the Rabbids at the Space Opera Network in order to guide them to dwell into heroism.
