Red is the main protagonist of the 2013 anime miniseries Pokémon Origins. Like his original counterpart, he is a trainer from Pallet Town that would become the Champion of Kanto, but has speaking roles in the series.
He is voiced by Junko Takeuchi in the Japanese version, who also voices Naruto Uzumaki, and by Bryce Papenbrook, who voiced Makoto Naegi, in the English dub.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Like his original counterpart, he shut down Team Rocket's base in Celadon City which polluted the surrounding area, but this time it is shown as a flashback.
- Revealed the Marowak ghost long enough for its Cubone child to calm it, as well as saving Mr. Fuji and the Cubone from Team Rocket.
- Defeated Giovanni and his grunts throughout the story, going as far as to convince the former to disband Team Rocket and end their plans of grand theft.
- Even though he saw Pokémon as tools rather than partners, Red would eventually grow a sense of concern and bond with his Pokémon.
- Unlike his original counterpart, he passes the admirable standard of his work due to Pokémon Origins being separated from the events of the main series games where their stories didn't happen.
Trivia[]
- His original counterpart doesn't qualify as Pure Good, as his most admirable acts were overshadowed by other trainers who saved the Pokémon world from greater threats, such as evil organizations misusing Legendary Pokémon.
