Red Hood: Whoever he is, I hope my counterpart on your world will have a chance to repay you.
Batman: Somehow, that seems unlikely.
~ Red Hood's final goodbye to Batman.

Red Hood is a minor character who appears in the American Animated DC animated series, Batman: The Brave and the Bold. He is a heroic counterpart of The Joker who fights against the infamous Injustice Syndicate, and with the help of Batman, ends up defeating the group of villains.

He was voiced by Jeff Bennett.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

  • After the tragic deaths of his wife and unborn child, rather than be consumed by bitterness and despair becoming The Joker; Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime, he is instead inspired to become a hero, taking up the identity of Red Hood.
  • He continuously fought against Owlman and the Injustice Syndicate and attempted to stop their plans.
  • When he was thrown into a vat of chemicals and acid, despite the chemicals disfiguring his face and fracturing his psyche, compounded with the deaths of his family, Red Hood does not give in to insanity and become the Joker like most versions of himself do and stays a good man.
  • He bands together the Justice Underground in his final stand against the Injustice Syndicate, and while they lose, he does not give up and retreats to fight another day.
  • He creates the Phase Oscillator to reach other worlds for help to stop the Injustice Syndicate.
  • He attempts to stop the Injustice Syndicate from stealing the Promethium 90 at the nuclear plant.
  • When being tortured by Silver Cyclone via electrocution, Red Hood does not break or disclose any information, instead sending coded directions to Batman to find his location as well as the imprisoned Justice Underground.
  • Along with Batman and the rest of the Justice Underground, he fights against the Injustice Syndicate and imprisons all of them.
  • He stops Silver Cyclone from activating his bomb and killing everyone on the planet.
  • He uses the Phase Oscillator to send the bomb to a planet full of zombies, ensuring that no innocent lives are killed.
  • He sincerely thanks Batman for his help, shaking his hand and saluting him before Batman returns to his home world. He also states that he wishes his counterpart from Batman's world could repay him.
  • He helps defeat the Injustice Syndicate, putting an end to their era of crime and ushering in a new era of crime-fighting in his reality.
  • Knowing Red Hood, he imprisons Owlman when he was sent to be imprisoned after Batman defeated him.
  • Red Hood manages to stand out among the high admirable standard of the series due to his incorruptible nature, his lack of corrupting factors, and helping to save his entire planet from both Silver Cyclone's bomb and the Injustice Syndicate.
  • Even though this version of the Joker may appear to be a game changer due to his serious personality, he is taken completely lightly and never darkens the mood or the story of the series.

Trivia[]

  • Technically, Red Hood is the only version of Joker to be Pure Good, which is extremely ironic considering that the majority of Joker's versions are Pure Evil.
    • Speaking of the Joker, Red Hood's personality is also the opposite of Joker's, being more serious than funny, and he never darkens the story of the mood but to keep it lighthearted.
    • Another ironic factor is that most versions of Red Hood are anti-heroes and lethal, if not outright anti-villains, while this version shed all corrupting quality as time went by.
  • He is the only Batman: The Brave and The Bold hero to be Pure Good.
