NOTE: This page is only referring to Rei and Akari as their protagonist role as their NPC rival counterpart was not voted as Pure Good.

I know I've no right to say this... But we are truly fortunate to have been able to count you among the Survey Corps' ranks. If you had not joined us, we would have fallen on Mount Coronet. We would have lost our home. We would have lost our future.
~ Kamado expressing his gratitude towards the player character and their heroism.

Rei and Akari are the player characters and main protagonists of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. They were transported from the modern world of Pokémon to the ancient Hisui region by Arceus. They were given a task in helping the Galaxy Expedition Team in completing the Pokédex.

Although they do not speak, they do make grunts when they sprint, dodge, or get hit. As Rei, he is voiced by Tatsuya Katono. As Akari, she is voiced by Tamaki Fujii.

What Makes Them Pure Good?[]

  • Despite being a mostly silent protagonist, they display enough personality through expressions and body languages. For example, when Commander Kamado asked them if they are really willing to help the Diamond and Pearl clan quell the frenzied Noble Pokémon, they responded with a nod along a determined expression.
  • They helped Professor Laventon in capturing the Hisui starters in Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott.
  • They accepted being part of the Galaxy Expedition Team and help them in capturing every species of Pokémon and completing the Pokédex entries.
  • In Obsidian Fieldlands, they defeated the alpha Kricketune so the Galaxy Expedition team could make a new campsite in Deertrack Heights.
  • They quell the Noble Kleavor to calm it down by throwing balms of its favorite food at it, thus stopping it from rampaging.
  • In Crimson Mirelands, they help Calaba of the Pearl Clan in the Solaceon Ruins in finding the missing piece of the wall that was stolen by Miss Fortune sisters.
  • They use Ursaluna in order Arezu of the Diamond Clan. They eventually find her injured when she is only trying to make balms in order to calm the Noble Hisuin Liligant
  • They quelled the Noble H-Liligant with the same method from the previous Noble Pokémon.
  • In Cobalt Coastlands, they saved the bigger H-Growlithe from Miss Fortune sister by the help of Iscan of the Diamond Clan and his Basculegion in getting to Firespit Island.
  • After the little H-Growlithe evolved into Arcanine, the spacetime rift struck into it and became frenzied. Rei/Akari quickly quelled and saved H-Arcanine from rampaging.
  • In Coronet Highlands, they battled Ingo of the Pearl Clan (who just so also happened to be transported from the modern world into the past) in order to help him regain his memories.
  • They calmed H-Electrode down via throwing balms at it.
  • In Alabaster Icelands, they quelled H-Avalugg.
    • Even though Gaeric of the Pearl Clan stated that H-Avalugg had down nothing to harm other people and Pokémon, they still need to quell it for safety measure.
  • After Kamado banished the protagonist from the Jubilife Village when he suspected them to be the cause of the space-time rift, they got help from Volo and they received info from Cogita that an artifact called the Red Chain could help bind the world back together and make the rift disappear.
  • From the help of Adaman and Irida, they form a Red Chain by passing the trial from the Lake Guardians: Mespirit, Azelf, and Uxie.
  • After climbing to the Temple of Sinnoh in Coronet Highlands. They defeated Kamado in a Pokémon battle, making him realized the errors of his ways and apologized for doubting them.
  • Upon reaching to the very top of the temple, they attempted to use the Red Chain in order to seal the spacetime rift, but it was ultimately shattered.
  • Despite the odds, they eventually caught both of Time and Space God Pokémon: Dialga and Palkia. Which they get the assistant in capturing the second one via Origin Ball crafted by Professor Laventon. With both captured, the space-time rift disappear, thus, they saved the Hisui region.
  • While they did help Volo in collecting the Plates for him in furthering his endgame goal. However, they were completely unaware about Volo's true intentions until the actual reveal.
  • When Volo demanded Rei/Akari in hand over the rest of the Plates, they refused and defeated both Volo and Giratina in an unfair Pokémon battle, thus preventing Volo from attempted omnicide.
  • In various side-quests, they would help the residents of Jubilife Village with their personal problems, such as saving Wanda numerous times in dangerous areas, finding more campsites for the Expedition Team, and helping Vessa in sealing the Spiritomb spirits.

Trivia[]

  • They, alongside Dawn, are the only three Pokémon Pure Good heroes to face a Pure Evil villain, so far.
  • In Pokémon Masters EX, Akari is said to be Professor Laventon's assistant and a rival to Rei. If Masters EX is confirmed to be canon to the mainline Pokémon games, then Akari would longer qualify in being PG.
