Rein Shroud is the main protagonist of the 2018 light novel series Beast Tamer and its 2022 anime adaptation.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- As a result of seeing the destruction of his village, Rein tries to save everyone he encounters even if that puts him in mortal danger.
- When he hears that Kanade was in trouble, he decides to save her by distracting the magical beast despite the fact that his magical abilities were limited.
- He saves a merchant from being antagonized by a gang of thugs.
- He (along with Kanade and Tania) easily defeated Arios Orlando and the Hero Party (Rein's former teammates) as payback for banishing him.
- When he, Kanade, and Tania get the Shield of Truth for the Hero Party, Rein decides to save Sora's twin sister Runa after learning that she had been held captive by the Shadow Knight.
- He uses multiple fireballs to drive Edgar Fromware's soldiers away when he threatened to kill his own citizens if he did not hand Sora and Luna over to him.
- Rein rescues Nina, a demigod who has been enslaved by Edgar, and overwrites the magical enchantment that was placed on her collar.
- He liberates the rest of Edgar's slaves, allowing them to get revenge on Edgar for all the pain and suffered they've endured (either they've killed Edgar or kept him alive to be tortured by the former slaves' brothers and husbands).
- Allowing Tina Hollee to stay at the mansion he brought despite her attempts to scare him and his companions out.
- Helping Tina to get revenge on her former master, Tran Jack for killing her.
- He defeated the falsely hero Arios again and cleared his name from his falsely accused crime with the help from Princess Sarya as well for Princess Sarya's father, King Argus to revoked Arios from his status as a "Hero".
- He already forgiven King Argus Van Rollreeze from Arios' crimes as well suggest the King to choose a Hero more carefully next time, which Argus agreed.
- After Arios escaped by Monica Eclair, Rein and his companions sent out by King Argus, to kill the Demon Lord and Arios Orlando (Rein's archnemesis and former teammate who now joined the Demon Lord) due to Arios' betrayal towards humanity. He finally killed Arios and avenge the deaths of Aggath, Leanne and Mina.
- Forming an alliance with Mina (Rein's former teammate of the Hero's Party who eventually betrayed Arios due to his completely evilness) of Mina's wish to kill Arios where Mina (along with the Holy Church archbishop) dies by the demons sent by Arios for Mina's betrayal towards Arios. But Mina's death won't be in vain because Rein is still going to kill Arios for what he has done which is a success as Rein finally killed Arios and avenge everyone including Mina's death.
