Reuben is the deuteragonist of the Season Pass of the Minecraft: Story Mode video game. He is the pet pig and best friend of Jesse.
He is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He is a generally nice animal who is always kind and protective to his friends, especially his owner and best friend, Jesse. He always remains loyal to his friends and never holds grudges against anyone, even Magnus.
- He helps Jesse collect materials and train for the upcoming Endercon building contest.
- If Jesse fails to make a deal with Otis the Butcher, Reuben attacks him. However, this is perfectly justified as self-defense.
- He distracts the Iron Golem to give Lukas and Jesse time to escape.
- He travels with Jesse to help him reunite the Order of the Stone.
- During the Death Bowl, Reuben jumped onto Magnus's machine and head-butted him. This is justified since Magnus was being too competitive and nearly killed Jesse multiple times, so stopping him was necessary. Plus, distracting the Magnus and gave Jesse time to fight back.
- When Jesse is about to get launched into the Wither Storm, Reuben decides to do with him/her at the last second. While he did endanger himself while doing so, he had completely good intentions.
- He travels inside the Wither Storm with Jesse and ends up giving him the sword he needs to defeat it and thus save the entire world.
- Despite being a non-speaking animal, moral agency is not a concern as he shows evidence to suggest he can feel complex emotions and distinguish from what is right and wrong. As shown in every one of his appearances, he perfectly understands humans and can even respond to them.
- One of the many examples, Jesse commanded him to trip an Enderman for it to get sucked into the Wither Storm's tractor beam, which he immediately does.
- The biggest piece of evidence is when Soren admits that the Order of the Stone are frauds, and Reuben displays an anngered expression. This proves he can tell what is right or wrong and showing that he understands this concept that any ordinary animal would have no clue on.
- Though he can get mad at times, these moments of anger can be justified as heating-up periods, since they only happen when Jesse endangers him (i.e. letting zombies attack him or failing to make a deal with Otis.) Though he might get angered if he disagrees with Jesse's choices, his anger never gets out of control and it quickly cools off.
