A fairy from Ripple Star, Ribbon escapes the planet with the fairies' Crystal, only to fall victim to a Dark Matter ambush. When she loses control of the Crystal, she turns to Kirby for help.
~ Ribbon's description in the manual of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

Ribbon is a recurring character in the Kirby franchise, serving as the deuteragonist of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and a supporting protagonist in Kirby Star Allies. She is a fairy who resides in a planet called Ripple Star, who is powered by large crystals. She is a close friend to Kirby and is implied to possibly be a love interest to him of sorts.

What Makes Her Pure Good?[]

  • When Dark Matter attacked Ripple Star, she flew off with the crystal in order to protect it.
  • When her plan failed and the crystal was broken into thousands of pieces, she immediately tried to find them all to restore it.
  • Although initially reluctant to go back to Ripple Star when the crystal shards guided her there, she ultimately decided to anyway after being encouraged by Kirby and company.
  • She confronts Zero 2 alongside Kirby during the final battle.
  • She kissed Kirby as a thank-you for helping her.
  • Although she has a somewhat limited role gameplay-wise, she plays a very big role and has a very big impact in the plot, as she was the one who took matters into her own hands to protect Ripple Star and who warned the Pop Star residents about Dark Matter's return. It also appears that Kirby would not have been able to defeat Zero 2 without her as she was the one who carried him throughout the whole fight.
    • As a result, she was largely responsible for saving two entire planets from Dark Matter, a feat very few characters in the Kirby franchise have done.
  • She helped Kirby and his friends defeat the Three Mage-Sisters, Hyness and Void Termina.
  • Although Kirby, Meta Knight, Bandana Waddle Dee and King Dedede have done more admirable actions than her, Ribbon stands out as she is less powerful than all four due to simply being a fairy.
  • Unlike most of the heroes in the Kirby franchise, who are to some degree arrogant, greedy, or stay in the sidelines whilst Kirby does the most admirable acts, Ribbon has no corrupting qualities at all and stands out for having one of the most heroic acts in the series despite her lower screen-time.
