Rivet is the deuteragonist of the 2021 third-person shooter platform video game, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. She is a female lombax and Ratchet's counterpart from another dimension, who teams up with Clank while he is separated from Ratchet when Dr. Nefarious causes the destruction of the Dimensionator.
A member of the resistance working to stop the reign of the evil Emperor Nefarious and his Nefarious Empire for years, Rivet later teamed up with Ratchet and Clank to defeat both Emperor Nefarious and Dr. Nefarious and save the multiverse from destruction. She is also Kit's partner.
She is voiced by Jennifer Hale.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- Even before the events of Rift Apart, she spent years fighting Emperor Nefarious on behalf of the Resistance.
- She gave up her disguise to help a civilian hide from Nefarious Troopers.
- While she started off prejudiced to any kind of robots, she mellowed out after getting to know Clank, and since then limited this distrust to robots on the side of evil. Adding to it, she had a freudian excuse of living in a dimension ruled by evil robots, and losing her right arm to one.
- She protected the Morts from Nefarious Troopers.
- She and Clank prevented the destruction of Blizar Prime in an alternate dimension.
- She and Clank obtained the phase quartz needed to restore the Dimensionator, though Rivet had to let it get destroyed to save Clank's life. However, she then got the idea of taking it to the Fixer, who ended up restoring it.
- Though there are a few implications that she intended to kill Emperor Nefarious, they are too dubious to say for sure, and it's possible that she was motivated by preventing him from hurting anyone else rather than revenge.
- While she had a falling-out with Kit after learning that she was the one who cut off her arm, she still tried to reconcile with her and convince her to keep fighting instead of going into seclusion.
- When all of her allies got locked up in Zordoom Prison, she broke in and rescued all of them.
- She fought Emperor Nefarious and foiled his attempt to collapse all of existence into nothingness.
