~ Rocket to Caesar after being captured. |
Rocket is the tritagonist of the Planet of the Apes Reboot series.
He is an evolved champanzee who was formerly the alpha male of an ape shelter before getting freed by Caesar. He serves as one of Caesar's closest allies and the top lieutenant of the ape army, fighting in many battles for the freedom of his fellow apes.
He is played by Terry Notary.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
In general[]
- Despite being an ape, he gained a proper moral agency after being exposed to the ALZ-113 Virus.
- Though he started off as an aggressive chimpanzee who bullied Caesar for no reason, this is before he even gained a proper intelligence. He later shed of all these jerkish qualities and even became Caesar's honorary brother.
- He is one of Caesar's most loyal apes, even choosing to accompany him during a quest rather than moving to his new home.
- While he sometimes kills his enemies, it is only done out of self-defence or when it is absolutely necessary. Crushing Koba's followers by tipping over a bus was part of a plan to free himself and other apes from imprisonment.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes[]
- In the shelter, he helped Caesar give out cookies to the apes.
- After being freed by Caesar, he did not participate in the beating of Rodney, since he presumably never abused him despite being one of shelter workers.
- He played a part in the massive mission to liberate all apes in San Francisco.
- When Andy was captured by an animal control officer, Rocket promptly freed him by ripping open the back of the van.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes[]
- Years after the escape, Rocket has become a prominent figure in the ape colony, serving as the army lieutenant and one of Caesar's honorary brothers. He even started a family with Tinker, raising their son named Ash.
- Immediately after hearing Ash getting shot, Rocket rushed to the scene, protecting his injured son from the humans.
- When debating their next course of action, Koba tried to persuade Rocket to fight the humans since they shot his son. However, Rocket decided against these aggressive actions since Caesar did not embrace it.
- When Caesar made a truce with Malcolm, Rocket helped in the construction of the dam. He even saved the humans when they were trapped by clearing the debris of a collapsing tunnel.
- After Caesar's attempted assassination and the ape home burning down, Rocket was not seen when the apes attacked city, meaning he did not support Koba's violence.
- Due to not participating in the Koba's war, he was chained inside a bus along with Maurice, Luca, and some others.
- With the leadership of Blue Eyes, they managed to free the humans and everyone inside the bus.
- After meeting up Caesar, he participated in an operation to stop Koba's tyranny.
War of the Planet of the Apes[]
- He went on a long journey with Blue Eyes to find a new home for the apes.
- When some soldiers infiltrated his home, he fought one head-on, allowing Caesar to intercept a message from Colonel McCullough revealing the death of Blue Eyes and Cornelia.
- He helped Maurice and the others look for Cornelius, Caesar's last surviving family.
- When Caesar begins his quest to seek revenge on the Colonel, Rocket along with Maurice and Luca decide to tag along in order to assist him.
- When encountering a stray human in a camp, he observes him without even pointing his gun at him. When the man attempted to attack, he was quickly killed Caesar, much to Rocket's shock.
- Although he pointed a gun at Nova when encountering her for the first time, he was being understandably cautious since he was just attacked outside. After realizing she was not a threat, he quickly put down his weapon.
- He helped surround Winter in order for Caesar to interrogate him.
- As soon as he spotted some soldiers attack Caesar and Luca, he quickly jumped into the scene and knocked one out.
- After Luca's death, Rocket is unwilling to turn back since the former gave his life to protect the group.
- When Bad Ape accidentally fell into a hidden underground tunnel, Rocket helped get back up. The group would later use this as an escape passage for the imprisoned apes.
- After Nova trespassed into Alpha-Omega territory, Rocket came out of hiding, yelling out to attract as much attention to himself as possible, giving Nova an opportunity to escape. After that didn't work, he attacked Red to draw even more attention to himself, allowing Nova to escape the base undetected.
- Though started a fight Red can be perceived as reckless since it led to him getting brutally beat up, the intention was not to win, but rather giving Nova the best window to flee.
- He measured the distance from the entrance to the adult ape cage, which allowed Bad-Ape to dig a hole directly into it.
- In order to get the prison key, Rocket baited a soldier towards a trap by throwing feces at him. When the soldier was in the exact position, Maurice came out from below and knocked out the soldier, giving Rocket his key and gun.
- Using the key, Rocket broke out himself and Caesar so they could get to the children's cage. They then helped the children climb over to the adult cage where they could escape through the hole.
- He fired back on a soldier who was gunning down apes with his machine gun.
- He snapped Bad Ape back to his senses so he could escape the incoming avalanche.
- Upon noticing Caesar falling over, he is noticeably the first ape (Other than Maurice who already knew Caesar was dying) to check on him, running to his friend.
