Ronald "Red" Daniels is the main playable character in the 2017 video game Call of Duty: WWII. He is an American military soldier and WWII veteran, whose heroism is inspired from his older brother, who died protecting him as a young boy.
He is voiced by Brett Zimmermann.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He fights with his platoon to liberate France from Nazi occupation, through the storming of the Normandy beach, to Marigny, to Paris.
- He extracts German civilians from a hotel his platoon was ordered to capture from the Nazis, including a child who was left behind.
- He assaults Hill 493 with his platoon and attempts to rescue a wounded Joseph Turner after he was shot, against his orders.
- When a Nazi POW tries to evade capture, he chases after him and searches his contents, to find intelligence of which bridge the Nazis would target next, which turns the tide of the battle and leads to their surrender.
- As Zussman gets captured by the Nazis, he disobeys Pierson in an attempt to save him.
- After getting kicked from Pierson's platoon and nearly getting executed by him, he rejects an Honorable Discharge from Davis because he decides he must rescue Zussman. He goes through trouble trying to reason with him but succeeds, which pays off as Zussman is saved at the last second.
- He risked everything to save Zussman, knowing full well he had a wife and son who was about to be born, waiting for him to come home.
- Even though he is a soldier and kills a lot, he only does it in self-defense and to protect the world from the Nazis.
- Unlike most Call of Duty protagonists, who were arrogant, self-righteous, or just plain lethal, Ronald has none of those qualities and is taken completely seriously as a war hero.
