Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is the titular main protagonist of the classic 1964 Rankin/Bass holiday special and the franchise of the same name. He is a misfit reindeer who was ridiculed and laughed at for his bright red nose, but proved he wasn't a misfit by putting it to good use and becomes liked in the end.
He was voiced by the late Billie Mae Richards in Rudolph from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Rudolph's Shiny New Year in 1976 & Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July in 1979 who also voiced Tenderheart Bear from the Care Bears franchise, and by Kathleen Barr in the 2001 CGI Film Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He holds no corrupting factors throughout his appearances and remains friendly.
- Although he did get a bit angry when Clarice says he talked funny, he only thought she was insulting her, but she wasn't and didn't show signs of this again.
- He sympathized with Hermey the Elf when he was a misfit for wanting to be a dentist and became friends with him.
- He left The Island of Misfit Toys, only so his nose won't cause Hermey and Yukon Cornelius any more trouble.
- When he sees his parents and Clarice captured by the Abominable Snowman, he tries to fight it to save them and Clarice who was about to be eaten, although he did get knocked out unconscious.
- When he reaches the North Pole, he agreed to use his red nose to guide the sleigh through the snowstorm and goes back to The Island of Misfits to collect the misfit toys and deliver them to the children.
- In the comics, although he became haughty and left the north pole, he came back and apologized for his actions and didn't show signs of this again, making this a heating-up period.
- He sympathizes with Happy, the Baby New Year, who was laughed at for his long ears, and encouraged him to overcome his problem and saved him from Eon the Terrible.
- Despite them being enemies, he's glad that Eon won't die when the new year comes.
- He tries to save the Sea Side Circus at the Beach's Fourth of July show from being shut down.
- He willingly takes the blame for the circus's stolen money to protect the amulets that Frosty's family were wearing despite being totally innocent.
- He defeats Winterbolt and retrieves Frosty's winter hat.
- He chose to stay with the circus until they've gone out of their debt.
- He taught Clarice how to fly.
- He saved the misfit toys from the Toy Taker and stopped the Toy Taker.
- He sympathized with the Toy Taker after hearing his backstory.
