Sakura Kinomoto is the main protagonist of the Cardcaptor Sakura franchise.
She is voiced by Sakura Tange in the original Japanese version. In the English dub, she is voiced by Carly McKillip in the original series and first movie, Kari Wahlgren in the second movie and Monica Rial in the Clear Card Arc.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- She agreed to help Kero seal the cards she had accidently released.
- During her journey to help seal all the cards, she bravely puts herself in many rather dangerous situations that would be terrifying to anyone her age out of her sense of duty.
- She is extremely kind and friendly to almost everyone she meets, including people like Syaoran and Meiling even when they were initially hostile towards and had one-sided rivalries with her, to the point she managed to earn their respect over time and even befriend them. One of the only exceptions is her her older brother Touya, and even then, it's only when he's teasing her; despite how much it riles her up, she's even friendly towards him by default whenever he's not being mean to her.
- Even after Madoushi kidnapped and tried to outright kill her, she still brought herself to sympathize with her for losing her master and love interest Clow Reed, and helped her accept it and move on by telling her she understood how it felt to lose a loved one.
- When Maki told her about mysterious events that were threatening the latter's business, she agreed to investigate them (leading to her and Kero discovering the Jump Card).
- She protected the Zoo from the Power Card after it started causing chaos amongst the visitors, even engaging in a match of tug-of-war with it when it threatened the elephants she was assigned to look after.
- During a field trip to the beach, she restored the students of her class who disappeared at the hands of the Erase Card with some help and encouragement from Syaoran during a test which involved them going into a cave to place a candle at a shrine.
- After sealing the Erase Card, she offered it to Syaoran in spite of the latter rejecting it.
- In another episode, she and Syaoran saved all their classmates when they visited an ice skating rink and were frozen by the Freeze Card by defeating it.
- She gave Yukito a handmade doll of him for his birthday (which also happened to be on Christmas).
- During an incident when she tried to convert multiple Clow Cards into Sakura Cards and accidently caused the Dash Card to panic as a result of exhausting herself and not being able to fully transform it, she pursues it, and instead of using force, she simply uses a combination of the Loop and Windy Cards to prevent it from escaping. She subsequently comforts and calms it down before convincing it to transform into a Sakura Card on its own accord.
- After realizing that Touya had actually known about the Clow Cards all along (even going as far as to sacrifice his own powers to keep Yue alive) and had simply been wanting to protect her the whole series, she grew incredibly remorseful over how she treated him, even breaking down into tears over it.
- She was devastated after Syaoran left in the series finale, so much so that her tears created the Nameless Card.
- She was overjoyed to be reunited with Syaoran during the second movie, a year after he had first departed back to Hong Kong.
- Like the rest of the cast, she was deeply affected by Syaoran sacrificing his emotions to stop the Nothing Card.
- Despite the Nothing Card erasing nearly everyone she knew and cared about from existence, she forgave her and even sympathized with her loneliness. She subsequently assured her after the other cards rejected her that she wouldn't be alone anymore, which caused her to redeem herself by fusing with the Nameless Card to become the Hope Card, which reverses the damage she previously caused with her power and revives her family, friends, and all the other residents of Tomoeda.
- In Clear Card, when all the Sakura Cards suddenly go blank and new cards start appearing, some of which cause local problems with their powers, despite being concerned and perplexed by the situation, she bravely takes up the cause again and dutifully captures the cards as they appear.
- When a girl named Akiho Shinomoto transfer to Tomoeda Junior High School, she quickly makes her feel welcome, becomes close friends with her and introduces her to her circle of friends, which allows her to quickly integrate and become friends with them as well.
- When pursuing the Flight Card through the garden of Tomoyo's house, she realizes it's just fleeing due to being timid and that a forceful approach is wrong. She then resolves to make a more pronounced effort in general to befriend and earn the trust of cards when she can help it, and she quickly befriends Flight as a result.
- When she and her friends visit a shrine, they quickly start turning into animals and are transported to some remote location, which causes her to panic since she doesn't know why any of this is happening. When lightning strikes a tree and it nearly falls on them, however, Syaoran uses magic to stop time, and thanks to his comfort and support, she's able to save them all by transporting them back with the power of her will. She then locates the Mirage Card that had caused all of this and captures it.
