If it can save you, then sacrificing my own life could have no greater meaning. Whatever you think of me, please know that you all are my most treasured friends... I've never had people like you in my life...
~ Sakura to her classmates in her suicide note.

Sakura Ogami, also titled the Ultimate Martial Artist, is a supportingcharacter in the Danganronpa franchise. She's a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78 and a participant of the Killing School Life.

She is voiced by Kujira in both the Japanese version of the game and the anime, while in English being voiced by Jessica Gee-George for the game and Rachel Robinson for the anime.

What Makes Her Pure Good?[]

  • She visited her first love, Kenshiro, after he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. When Kenshiro offered her his title of the strongest human alive, she rejected it and vowed that she would earn the title herself by fighting him again after he had defeated his disease.
  • When Makoto became fearful of her when they first met, she assured him, stating that she could not spar with him.
  • Despite her working with Monokuma, she was mainly forced to in order to protect her loved ones, her dojo and Kenshiro.
  • She let Aoi stay in her dorm room when she was afraid of spending the night alone after the Mutual Killing Incident began.
  • She guarded the bodies alongside another student whenever a crime scene was discovered, in order to prevent tampering of the evidence.
  • She decided that she had enough of deceiving her friends and confronted Monokuma, announcing that she would act against him and support her friends from then on.
  • Due to all the discourse she unintentionally caused within the academy, and Aoi getting badly injured, she vowed to end things once and for all.
  • When Monokuma ordered her to murder one of her classmates, she instead committed suicide to fulfill his desire for murder without killing one of her friends.
    • To prepare for her death, she wrote a farewell note for her friends explaining her reasons for committing suicide, expressing her desire to protect and unite the other students. This would prevent any future deaths from occurring and make the remaining students vow to go against Monokuma.
  • She broke down the door leading to the principal's office as a "first strike" against the mastermind. This allowed Kyoko to unlock every room within the academy and obtain information about the sixteenth student, Mukuro Ikusaba.
  • Despite the extremely high Admirable Standards of the franchise, she stands out for her sacrifice and having far lower resources than the likes of Makoto, Kyoko, Chihiro and other characters as she is just a regular student without powerful technology or leading a powerful organization.
    • While Kaito Momota and Kaede Akamatsu also sacrifice themselves and play large roles in their respective games with similar resources, they are from a different canon, so she does not need to compete with them. Even then, it is questionable if she would fail to them if she did.

Trivia[]

  • She was originally considered Near Pure Good due to failing the admirable standards to Makoto, Kyoko and Chihiro. However, it was reevaluated that they have more resources than her and has enough of an important role in the story, so she was approved as Pure Good.
  • Sakura's English voice actress, Jessica Gee-George, is married to Grant George, whom coincidentally voiced fellow Danganronpa Pure Good Shuichi Saihara.
