Duchess Satine Kryze was a supporting character in the 2008-2020 animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and a posthumous character in its 2014-2018 sequel series Star Wars Rebels.
She was the ruler of Mandalore and leader of the pacifistic New Mandalorian people during the final years of the Galactic Republic. Sometime before the Blockade of Naboo, Satine spent several months with Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi on the run from assassins.
She was voiced by Anna Graves.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- She opposed Mandalore's entry into the Clone Wars, advocating a position of neutrality.
- She was sympathetic to the Death Watch member who committed suicide, and gave him their last words.
- She saved Obi-Wan Kenobi from rogue Mandalorians in Concordia.
- She tried her best to stop Pre Vizsla from subverting peace efforts.
- She took her commitment to pacifism very seriously that she even believed extremists could be reasoned with.
- Despite her commitment to peace, Satine always carried a deactivator with her, using it to disable a swarm of assassin droids trying to kill her and several senators.
- Although she stepped on Tal Merrik's foot and grabbed his blaster, she only did this out of self-defense since he held her hostage, yet she remained hesitant to kill him because that would have made her hypocritical towards her ideals of non-violence, despite Merrik attempting to assassinate her earlier and was about to blow up her ship with multiple innocent people on board.
- She sacrificed herself for her people.
- She did not appear angry when Obi Wan told her he could not be with her because of his Jedi commitment, and she continued to love and admire him.
- Despite her restrained relationship with Bo-Katan, Satine still cared about her sister.
- After being fatally impaled by Darth Maul using the Darksaber, she declared her love for Obi-Wan before passing away.
