| ~ Silver explaining about his origins. |
Silver the Hedgehog is a major character in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, who first debuted in the 2006 game Sonic the Hedgehog.
He is the psychokinetic silver colored hedgehog that hailed from the future, who travels through time to keep his world looking bright. If it's not, he travels into the past to investigate the situation and correct it to save it.
in English, he was originally voiced by Pete Capella, Quinton Flynn, and currently by Bryce Papenbrook, who also voiced Makoto Naegi. In Japanese, he was voiced by Daisuke Ono.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
Games[]
- He time travels to the past to fix the mistakes, all in the sake of making the future a better place.
- He gives away the blue Chaos Emerald to Elise on a time travel to the Solaris Project Incident, He tells her it's a lucky charm, this explains why she had it in Sonic's Story.
- After learning that Sonic was not the Iblis Trigger when Mephiles had lied to him after being tricked, and realized that Eggman may intend to release Iblis, Silver uses Psychoshock on Eggman's robots and knocks them all out, causing them to explode on the ground as a way to makes amends with Sonic for his misunderstanding, With Silver explaining that "circumstances have changed", Sonic quickly forgave Silver, even going as far as to team up with him.
- When Silver and Blaze planned to assist Sonic into rescuing Elise, but failed as they witnessed the Egg Carrier's sudden crash which killed both Elise and Eggman which released Iblis off-screen. After a moment of grief, upon learning that he and Sonic can still use Chaos Control to travel through time, Silver lets Sonic to go to the Past to prevent Elise's demise.
- He ultimately returns to the future and defeats Iblis, saving the future once and for all.
- When Blaze offered to sacrifice herself to seal away Iblis, he felt heartbroken upon losing his best friend, outright telling her, "Don't go!". In spite of his reluctance of allowing Blaze to seal away Iblis to another dimension, he comes to terms that sealing away Iblis is for the best.
- Upon Solaris' rebirth causing a space-time rift, Silver felt guilty for having tried to kill Sonic after Dr. Eggman pointed out Mephiles' intention was for Elise to witness something devastating enough to make her cry and cause Iblis' release from her soul, realizing he would have caused this very event (which was worse than his apocalyptic future) had he succeeded.
- He played an integral role in getting the Chaos Emeralds to revive Sonic and when everyone is driven to despair over the loss of Sonic, Silver boosts their morale and tells Elise that she can use the power of the Chaos Emeralds to revive Sonic.
- Defeats Solaris along with Sonic and Shadow, saving the multiverse in the process.
- While he did originally try and kill Sonic, thinking he was the Iblis Trigger, upon realizing that he was wronged and lied to, he was quick to switch to the latter's side and has never looked back since.
- Despite him and Sonic being mistaken for each other, he doesn't call the latter "faker," like Shadow did, when he first encountered him.
- Like Shadow, when Amy initially mistook him for Sonic, he doesn't use any physical force to get her off.
- Even after the history is altered, he remains a hero and helps stop Eggman Nega's plans to destroy the world at least twice.
- While he and Espio left Eggman Nega trapped in the Ifrit's dimension despite his pleas, it was more than justified for the atrocities he committed or attempted (not to mention that the villain was more than likely cowardly pleading for mercy).
- Battles Infinite and their fight made the villain drop the Phantom Ruby prototype, which the Avatar would use to turn the tides against Eggman and save the world.
- He joins Team Vector to keep an eye on Dodon Pa, whose motivations were unknown to everyone, and later helps rescue him when he's kidnapped by Eggman.
- In the cutscene of a race, he and his team take out Team Eggman.
- While he does battle Sonic in Generations, this was either to make sure it wasn't a fake Sonic sent for the chaos emeralds or simply a friendly challenge from him.
- While he did have jerkish moments in Rivals, this appears to have been subverted, as he doesn't show these traits in later mainline entries, being humbler and mutually more cooperative with Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and the other heroes. In a prequel comic to Sonic Forces, where he goes to Knuckles to warn of the future conquered by the Eggman Empire, he doesn't lose his temper as the echidna was initially unconcerned with his warnings wherein, he picked a fight with him rather than explain his goals in Sonic Rivals 2 when the latter called him crazy when misunderstanding his reason for collecting Chao.
- Even if he does get involved in Sonic and co.'s activities in the present, it doesn't damage his future. In fact, it's the other way around.
IDW Comics[]
- He subdues a badnik that was about to attack Sonic, even apologizing for stepping on his toes when the latter pridefully claims he didn't need help.
- Over-eager at meeting at Whisper the Wolf, he understands her solitary nature and calmly expresses his wish to join her.
- He takes part in the battle to free Angel Island from Neo Metal Sonic, saving everyone from falling to their deaths when Master Overlord throws them off its body.
- He tries planting a garden in the ruins of a town.
- He protects Sonic from the explosives Dr. Starline tricked him (Silver) into detonating.
- He saves Sonic, overwhelmed by Zombots, from succumbing to his Metal Virus infection and helps Tails recover Omega's head in Sunset City.
- He tries to help with the evacuation in Ice Paradise, dismayed he couldn't save anyone.
- He and Whisper defeat Zor and get his Chaos Emerald.
- He and Sonic used the Chaos Emeralds and Warp Topaz to rid the world of the Metal Virus, Super Silver using his enhanced psychokinesis to remove the Metal Virus from every infected living thing around the world, which the Zombots were no more and all the victims are cured as the Metal Virus was sent into Super Sonic's portal to the sun.
- What makes this more admirable is that his future was already infected because the metal virus would eventually become unsustainable and would cause the Zombots to disintegrate; Eggman predicted that this would occur two hundred years, something that Silver deduced had already happened in his time since all that remains were metallic plants and ruins, but him coming back in time to fix it was incredibly crucial making Silver responsible for undoing the Metal Virus.
- Upon returning, the future has been restored to it's peaceful state, Silver thanks everyone for their help.
- This alone makes Silver one of if not the most admirable in the franchise with the only heroes rivaling him being Crane and Sonic the Hedgehog himself.

- He restrains Zavok when he still tries to go on a rampage after his defeat.
- He takes part in the attack on Eggperial City, restoring Shadow's spirit in the process.
- While he acted hostile towards Duo the Cat during the Diamond Cutters' training exercise, he was more than justified since the latter, actually Mimic the Octopus, deliberately sabotaged him and tried to leave him for dead. Even so, he apologized for his supposedly false transgressions, especially when it seemed Duo was not Mimic.
- After Duo was exposed as Mimic and his actions nearly destroyed the Diamond Cutters, Silver returned to help them recover from their trauma, holding no hard feelings towards Lanolin, and also helped Tangle and Whisper bring Mimic down for good.
Trivia[]
- He was originally considered Near Pure Good due to his jerkish behavior in Sonic Rivals, as well as trying to kill Sonic after being tricked by Mephlies in Sonic 06, however upon further discussion, it was decided that his preventions no longer held up due to subverting or atoning for these, allowing him to be approved for Pure Good.
- He is one of the three recurring Sonic characters who were Near Pure Good to be approved for Pure Good, the others being Miles "Tails" Prower, Blaze the Cat, Amy Rose and Maria Robotnik who were approved as such with more admirable traits or character development.
- Interestingly, he, Blaze and Amy are all playable in his story.
