Fox! Get this guy off me!
~ One of Slippy's catchphrases while being chased by an enemy.
Hoo, that was too close.
~ Slippy Toad

Slippy Toad is one of the main characters in the Star Fox franchise. He is the team's tech wizard and is one of Fox's closest friends since their flight academy days before he joined the second generation of the Star Fox team to hold up peace.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

  • Slippy has willingly joined the Star Fox team in the wake of the Lylat War started by Andross.
  • In general, Slippy has shown himself time and again that he is exceptionally kind towards other people which extends to even the Star Wolf team, even when they look down on him and the same is said for Falco Lombardi as well, who constantly picks on him which is notably shown in Starlink: Battle for Atlas when after the Slippy's Scheme side-mission, when Falco gives his rare praise towards him, Slippy assures him that it is okay to admit when he's wrong.
  • Gameplaywise, Slippy plays a very important role in displaying the stage boss's shield gauge for the players to know if their attacks are effective so they can change their strategy and to know when they are close to defeating the boss.
  • Even though Slippy's flight prowess is below average and tends to get himself into sticky situations, he never intentionally tries to hold the team back and when he is saved, he immediately goes back to helping them out. His comedic nature also does not detract too much from the seriousness his heroic actions.
  • His various inventions and improvisors throughout the series have proven to be exceptionally vital to the team's numerous victories against evil forces; he modified the Arwings to help it endure dangerously high temperatures of Solar to which it won't bring them down by heat alone, but for something to hit it, he also created the Landmaster for ground-based missions and the Blue Marine for underwater missions and it shows when Slippy asks Fox how they holding for him and when the team praise him for his work after Fox defeats Bacoon in Aquas.
  • He assisted in bringing the Lylat War to an end and restored peace to the galaxy.
  • In Star Fox: Adventures, even when he doesn't directly help Fox like the rest of his teammates, he still contributes in a small way, such as sending the Hi-Def Display Device to Fox, though the latter was forced to purchase it from the Shopkeeper who retrieved it first, and when Fox is imprisoned by the SharpClaw, Slippy also sent Fox the SharpClaw Disguise to help him retrieve Krystal's Staff and make an escape.
  • In Star Fox: Assault, when he learns from his father, Beltino about the Core Memory that Pigma stole from them on Katina, he informed the team that they must get it back since it contains information on the Aparoid Homeworld.
  • He was despondent when he witnessed General Pepper being infected by the Aparoids and when Peppy sacrifices himself to break open the shield blocking the entrance for the team to get through, even when it turned out that Peppy indeed survived using an escape pod, which shows that Slippy deeply cares for them.
  • He defied the Aparoid Queen's imitations and mental torture to get them to join her and partook in the final battle to destroy her, resulting in the extinction of all the existing Aparoids.
  • In Star Fox Zero, when Peppy is taken down by Wolf and crashes down on Titania, Slippy, Fox and Falco worry about him (although the latter reassures them) and go there to rescue their mentor.
    • While clumsy, he never detracts from being taken as a selfless hero.

Trivia[]

  • He is an extremely rare example of a Pure Good that has committed genocide due to wiping out all of the Aparoids. However, they are all inherently evil as a race and their assimilation with living beings are treated as a fate worse than death, so this has no effect on his status whatsoever, making him more admirable instead. This also applies to both Fox McCloud and Krystal, who both helped him in the war.
