Sophie is the main protagonist of the 2016 CGI/live-action film adaptation of The BFG.
She was portrayed by Ruby Barnhill.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- When a group of men approached the orphanage making a ruckus in the middle of the night, she told them to leave and let the other orphans sleep lest she call the police.
- Sharing her own secrets with The BFG despite only having known him for a day and convincing him to reveal his own in the process.
- When she saw the other giants bullying The BFG only to learn he was used to it by this point, she tried to convince him to stand up for himself.
- Helping The BFG catch a dream in spite of the difficulty of the task.
- Showing concern for The BFG upon learning that the red dream she had helped him catch was a nightmare by asking him what he would do with it.
- Even after The BFG's told her about the previous boy he befriended having been eaten by the other giants, Sophie still refused to leave him and return to the orphanage.
- Giving The BFG to idea to get the queen's help to get rid of the other giants for good, even encouraging him not to be afraid to reveal his existence to her.
- Telling The BFG to make the queen's nightmare as scary as possible in order to show her how terrifying the other giants truly were.
- After The BFG accidentally broke something valuable in the queen's palace, she apologized to the queen for what happened of his behalf.
- By convincing the queen to trust The BFG, he managed to try actually delicious food for the first time in his life as opposed to the snozzcumbers he's been forced to eat before.
- Telling the queen to never have another human come to Giant Country after the man-eating giants were dealt with.
- Risking her own life to give the giants a nightmare in order to get them to feel remorse for their actions after The BFG had forgotten his trumpet to do so.
- Helping get the other giants banished to an island for the remainder of their lives where they would be fed nothing but snozzcumbers.
- After moving in with the queen, she said good morning to The BFG, making him smile.
