Sophie Neuenmuller is the titular protagonist of Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book and it's sequel Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream, the tritagonist of Atelier Firis: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Journey and a major character of Atelier Lydie and Suelle: The Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting. She is also a playable character in Warrior All Stars, being on Tamaki's side during the game.
After her parent's death, Sophie lived together with her grandmother who was an alchemist. After her grandmother's death, Sophie aims to become an alchemist who can help others, just like her grandmother.
What Makes Her Pure Good ?[]
- Following the step of her grandmother, she aimed to become an alchemist who could help others.
- She is generally very supporting with her friends and would help them when necessary.
- When she discovered Plachta and learned she lost her memory, Sophie helped her to regain it.
- She transfered Plachta's soul to a doll body.
- Alongside Plachta, she stopped Luard who was using Ablation Alchemy.
- She saved Meklet and Atomina from a Dragon and helped them to use alchemy again depsite what they did as Luard.
- When she was separated from Plachta when she went to Erde Wiege, she vowed to find her.
- She forgave Elvira for lying to her about Plachta.
- She helped Roytal to fight against the Grolls.
- She saved Elvira who was corrupted by the Grolls.
- She took Firis as a student and teached her alchemy. It also leaded to Firis to have the right to get out from Ertona.
- She saved Lydie, Suelle and their party from Falgior.
- She retained Falgior while Lydie and Suelle were finding a way to stop him.
- She acted as a mentor for Lydie and Suelle during her time to Merveille.
- She helped Lydie and Suelle to face the Remplir monsters and to save their mother.
- She made Plachta human again.
- She assisted the twin to save their mother dissapering.
- While she has moments in the sub-stories where she acts antagonistic to others, these moments are taken for laugh. Futhermore her actions are not unjustified :
- She accepted Plachta's demand to give her a bomb to throw at Fritz because they thought he was a pervert when he asked to see Plachta's body. When they learned the misunderstanding, they felt remorseful for treating Fritz so badly. And to be fair, in Atelier Lydie and Suelle, he would ask Plachta to see her body again when she was human, ultimatly leaving him with no excuse.
- She tried to beat Alt with her staff only because the latter tried to turn everyone against her by making them believe she was beating him for no reason.
