Peter Parker, better known as Spider-Man, is the titular main protagonist of Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
He was voiced by Christopher Daniel Barnes who also voiced Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid.
What Makes Him Pure Good?
In General
- Peter Parker would try to earn money from a wrestling match but upon being cheated out of his gains, he accidentally lets a robber go. His uncle Ben died as a result and he would become Spider-Man, eventually subverting this corrupting quality.
Season 1
- He defeats the Lizard and gets money from the bugle and helps Aunt May from a financial crisis.
- He stops Spencer Smythe's Spider-Slayers at a party.
- He defeats Alistair Smythe's Spider-Slayers.
- He defeats Doc-Ock and rescues Felicia Hardy's mother.
- He defeats Mysterio after he gets framed by him.
- He defeats Scorpion and saves him from J. Jonah Jameson.
- He saves Mariah Crawford from Kraven the Hunter and helps Mariah cure Kraven of his aggressive serum that cured his life once.
- He saves astronauts John and Stevens while Eddie frames him for stealing Promethium X. After getting the Black Suit from the shuttle, he gives Jameson evidence that Rhino was threatening John and Stevens. After getting rid of the symbiote when it nearly kills Shocker, he defeats Venom by using a rocket's loud noise so he may save Eddie Brock.
- Peter saves Wilson Fisk from Hobgoblin.
- After Hobgoblin takes over Kingpin's facility, Spider-Man stops him.
Season 2
- He defeats in Insidious Six while his powers were deactivation frequently.
- He defeats Hydro-Man when he was stalking Mary Jane.
- He helps the X-Men defeat Herbert Landon and prevents him from committing genocide against mutants. After Landon transformed into a giant monster, Landon was stopped by Spider-Man and the X-Men.
- The crimes he committed as Man-Spider are not a disqualifying factor given the creature is a save alternate personality whom Spider-Man has no control over.
- He clashed with Blade, who attempts to kill Morbius, but Spider-Man wants to cure Morbius. He eventually teams up with Blade and stops Morbius from turning everyone into vampires.
- Saves Curt Connors from Silvermane.
- He defeats Adrian Toomes after Toomes stole Spider-Man's youth. He also defeats Scorpion.
Season 3
- He and Doctor Strange stop Baron Mordo from releasing Dormammu as well as saving the many people he enslaved, including Mary Jane.
- He meets Madam Web who brings him to his biggest fan, a little girl named Taina. Spidey tells Taina his origin story. After Doc-Ock gives Spidey amnesia, Taina helps him remember who he is and defeats Doc Ock. Spidey reveals to Taina that he is really Peter Parker. It is later revealed that she was terminally ill, meaning Spidey comforted a dying child.
- When Norman Osborn recklessly experiments with his performance enhancing gas and causes an explosion which releases the gas and goes into his nose, Norman's mind is warped and he becomes the Green Goblin. Spider-Man stops Green Goblin after he kidnaps his board members. Norman gets left with amnesia as a result and he is happily returned to Harry.
- He defeats both Big-Wheel and Rocket Racer, convincing the latter to give up crime for his sick mother.
- After being framed for murder by Kingpin, Daredevil rescues him and clears Peter Parker's name, putting Kingpin's son in jail in the process.
- When Alistair Smythe has his mind taken over by Herbert Landon and transformed into a cyborg-mutant, Spider-Man frees him and reveals that Alistair's father is still alive.
- He saves Robbie Robertson and stops Tombstone from bringing ruin to the Robertson family.
- He stops Cletus Kasady from suicide bombing himself and trying to kill numerous people.
- He stops Carnage and Mordo after Carnage steals the life force of numerous people to bring Dormammu to Earth.
- When Doctor Jonathan Ohn becomes the Spot and a large portal over the city is created, Spider-Man helps Spot and his girlfriend stop the portal.
- When Norman Osborn develops his split personality and talks to him in the mirror, Spider-Man stops Green Goblin when he tries to kill Felicia Hardy and Hobgoblin.
- When Green Goblin kidnaps Mary Jane and brings her to the Washington Bridge to kill her, Spidey attempts to stop him but unbeknownst to Peter, Mary Jane falls into a portal. Believing Mary Jane dies, Spidey attempts to kill Goblin before realizing it's unjustified. Goblin tries to kill Spidey but is knocked into a portal himself.
Season 4
- He clears Robbie's name after being framed by Tombstone and Richard Fisk.
- He saves John Hardesky and Felicia Hardy after Kingpin kidnaps them.
- He, Kraven and Black Cat cure Mariah Crawford's mind from the super serum that was given to Kraven.
- He saves Black Cat from Silvermane.
- He saves Morbius from Herbert Landon and Shocker.
- He, Black Cat, Blade and Terri Lee defeat Miriam the Vampire Queen and stop her from turning everyone in New York into vampires.
- He defeats Harry Osborn when he becomes Green Goblin II.
- He saves Mary Jane from Miranda Wilson.
- He saves Curt Connors from mutated Lizards that were made from him flushing his blood into the sewers.
- He and Hobie, better known as the Prowler, defeat Kingpin ending his regin for good.
Season 5
- He marries Mary Jane and defeats Harry, Scorpion and Alistair Smythe.
- He clears the names of his parents who were framed as Russian spies. He and the Secret Six stop Red Skull and Electro.
- He attempts to save Hydro-Man from Mary Jane, only to find out she's a clone along with Hydro-Man. Both clones die however, due to their DNA being unstable, and despite the fact that she wasn't the real Mary Jane, he still loved her, nonetheless.
- When being transported to another planet, he teams up with the Fantastic Four, Storm, Captain America, Lizard, Black Cat and Iron Man to defeat Red Skull, Doctor Octopus and Doctor Doom.
- He and numerous versions of him from alternate realities stop Spider-Carnage from destroying the multiverse. He specifically stops Spider-Carnage by making him meet with an alternate reality Uncle Ben who convinces Spider-Carnage to not destroy all realities.
- He seeks out to try to save Mary Jane from her dimensional imprisonment.
X-Men '97
- At some point he managed to find and free Mary Jane from the dimensional prison and bring her back safely, continuing his heroics as Spider-Man to keep the city safe.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Spider Physiology: Due to being bitten by a radioactive spider that was exposed to the Neogenic Recombinator, Spider-Man possesses the proportionate powers of a spider, such as superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, reflexes, equilibrium, stamina, senses, etc. He can also cling to solid surfaces and has a "spider-sense", which alerts him to danger.
- Superhuman Strength: Possessing the proportionate strength of a spider, Spider-Man is much stronger than normal humans and most other superhumans. He can overpower a group of thugs relatively easily, he is even proven to be much stronger than Wolverine, despite the fact that the latter possessing superhuman strength himself. Spider-Man's superhuman strength is also on par with Captain America's.
- Superhuman Durability: Spider-Man is far more durable than normal humans and most other superhumans. He can withstand great impact forces, such as powerful blows from the Lizard, the Rhino, Tombstone and Hammerhead respectively, as well as energy blasts from Shocker's gauntlets, that would have severely injure or kill a normal human.
- Superhuman Speed: Possessing the proportionate speed of a spider, Spider-Man is much faster than normal humans and most other superhumans. He is able to catch up to or outrun speeding vehicles relatively easily, he is even proven to be much faster then the Lizard and the Rhino respectively, despite the fact that the two latters possessing superhuman speeds themselves.
- Superhuman Agility: Possessing the proportionate agility of a spider, Spider-Man is far more agile than normal humans and most other superhumans. He is able to perform acrobatic and gymnastic moves, such as high jumps, somersaults, flips, etc.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Spider-Man's reflexes are much faster than normal humans and most other superhumans. He is able to dodge or counter any attack, such as strikes from the Lizard and the Rhino respectively. Spider-Man's spider-sense also further greatly amplifies his superhuman reflexes.
- Superhuman Flexibility: Spider-Man is far more flexible than normal humans and most other superhumans. He is able to bend his body in ways that normal humans would have to train for years to do so.
- Superhuman Equilibrium: Spider-Man's equilibrium is far more greatly developed than normal humans and most other superhumans. He is able to balance himself perfectly on any object, no matter how small or narrow it is.
- Superhuman Jumping/Leaping: Possessing the proportionate jumping of a spider, Spider-Man can jump much higher, and leap much farther than normal humans and most other superhumans.
- Superhuman Stamina: Spider-Man possesses far more stamina then normal humans and most other superhumans, allowing him to remain physically active for long periods of time.
- Superhuman Senses: Spider-Man's senses are far more greatly developed than normal humans and most other superhumans. He no longer needs his glasses and had perfect vision, because his healing factor, has healed his eyesight in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. He is also able to sense, hear and see anyone and/or anything (beings, objects, etc) close to or distant from him, like all real spiders do.
- Spider-Sense: Spider-Man possesses precognitive danger senses, he is able to quickly dodge any form of attacks just after sensing them, it is an early warning detection system that detects impending danger before it happens and alerts him via a tingling or buzzing sensation in the base of his skull, giving him more than plenty of time to react via identifying whether a danger is potential or immediate, how intense a threat it is, what direction it is coming from, how fast it is, etc.
- Accelerated Perception: Spider-Man can process information and perceive, and think faster then normal humans and most other superhumans, Spider-Man can sense, see and hear things so fast they appear in slow motion.
- Accelerated Healing Factor: Spider-Man's superhuman natural healing, health, immune system, metabolism allow him to rapidly heal faster, more extensively, and efficiently than normal humans and most other superhumans and even capable of rapidly regenerating from those that would prove lethal to normal humans and most other superhumans to heal from, His eyesight healed in a matter of minutes, if not seconds.
- Superhuman Immunity: Due to Spider-Man's accelerated healing factor, he is immune to most, if not all, types of diseases, illnesses, sickness, drugs, poisons, toxins, etc.
- Wall-Crawling: Spider-Man is able to stick to any surface (no matter how rough or slippery) much like any spider would, by using his finger
Abilities
- Indomitable Will: Spider-Man has a strong will-power, a powerful spirit and an unstoppable determination, he possesses an absolute refusal to kill or give up, this makes him a formidable opponent against his enemies, he overcomes fear at almost anyway, due to this, he is completely free of evil and temptation, and has struggled to balance his life as both a college student and superhero.
- Genius-Level Intellect: Peter possesses an IQ (250 IQ) that makes him an expert in all kinds of science. This is how Peter made his web-shooters (along with the web fluid, web fluid cartridges and spare web fluid cartridges) suit, spare suits, spider-signal, spider-tracers and spider-tracker, Peter can easily solve complex problems and build any piece of technology by himself. Peter is able to put webbing into cartridges, which he puts in complex web-shooters that can spray the webbing in several different types of ways. He has developed, small tracking devices that can stick to anything and a device to track them, thanks to his intellect, he is a skilled tactician, engineer and investigator, as he is capable of solving mysteries, crimes and cases, he is also capable of making incredibly annoying jokes which irritate both allies and enemies alike.
- Skilled Photographer: Peter is a very skilled photographer, Peter is an adept photographer, during his fleeting career with the Daily Bugle. He was living to produce a sustainable living for some years as an ace photographer, serving for the Daily Bugle's front line. Due to his superhuman capabilities, he can take pictures of crime scenes or objects from any angle imaginable.
- Master Acrobat: Due to Spider-Man's superhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes, flexibility, equilibrium, jumping, leaping and spider-sense, he is an excellent acrobat and gymnast. He is skilled in acrobatics and gymnastics, which allow him to dodge and counter any attack.
- Expert Hand-To-Hand Combatant: Due to Peter's life being bullied/pranked as a young teenager to acquiring amazing superhuman capabilities and combining them with his scientifically, adept and creative mind, Peter has though time become a formidable hand-to-hand combatant utilizing a combat style that directly complements his superhuman attributes. His methods are volatile, enabling him to rival practically all types of combatants.
Equipment
- Spider-Man suit: Peter wears a suit as his superhero alter-ego, Spider-Man, to hide his identity from his enemies when he goes out fighting crime, the suit was designed by Peter himself. It is also made from skintight materials.
- Utility Belt: Peter has a utility belt, which contains web fluid cartridges and his spider-tracers, which he uses to track his enemies.
- Web-Shooters: Peter wears twin set of web-shooters underneath his gloves, which not only fire webs but also his spider-tracers.
- Web Fluid: A unique fluid developed by Peter that he uses to fuel his web-shooters, allowing him to shoot strong, thick, tough, elastic, flexible and adhesive webbing.
- Spider-Tracers: Small spider shaped-like devices that Peter designed to find and track his enemies, by throwing them onto or by firing them at objects or individuals there also detected by spider-sense.
- Spider-Tracker: A device designed by Peter to track down individuals or objects, via following the homing signal on his spider-tracers.
Weaknesses
- Web Generation: As confirmed by Spider-Man himself, he cannot actually generate silk webbing from glands inside his forearms, as he is forced to use dual wrist-mounted web-shooters in order to overcome this weakness.
- Limited Strength: Although Spider-Man is incredibly strong, he does have his limits. He was unable to match Venom in terms of physical strength.
- Limited Durability: Although Spider-Man is incredibly durable, he does have his limits, as objects, weapons or other superhumans with enough force can injure him.
- Ethyl Chloride: Perhaps as a side effect of Spider-Man gaining his powers, he is susceptible to the pesticide ethyl chloride.
- Distractions: Spider-Man's spider-sense (occasionally) doesn't work very well, if he gets distracted.
