This article pertains to a Pure Good with more than one version who is Pure Good!

Every day, I wake up knowing... that the more people I try to save... the more enemies I will make. And it's just a matter of time... before I face those with more power... than I can overcome.
~ Spider-Man
I lost... I lost Gwen, my, um... she was my "MJ". I couldn't save her. I'm never gonna be able to forgive myself for that. But I carried on, tried to... tried to keep going. Tried to keep being the... friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, because I know that's what she would've wanted, but... at some point, I just... I stopped pulling my punches. I got rageful. I got bitter. I just don't want you to end up like... like me.
~ Peter opening up to his MCU counterpart

Peter Benjamin Parker, also known as Spider-Man, is the titular main protagonist of Marc Webb's duology of the same name and a major character in the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home.

He was an ordinary high school student until an investigation at Oscorp led to him being bitten by a genetically modified spider.

He was portrayed by Andrew Garfield as a young adult and by Max Charles, who also voiced Kion in The Lion Guard, as a child.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

In General[]

  • Even before getting his powers, Peter was shown to be a naturally kindhearted person as he protected a boy named Gordon from being bullied by Flash Thompson, even though it resulted in him getting beat up instead.
  • Even though he initially had several corrupting qualities, such as his rage, recklessness, and jerkish moments, including arguing with Ben, he is shown to have subverted them all and became more kinder and wiser, as evident in No Way Home.

The Amazing Spider-Man[]

  • Later after learning of the plane crash in which his parents died and the work his father used to do with Curt Connors in Oscorp, he sneaked into the building to search for answers however upon being recognized by Gwen, he chose to sneak away but bumped into an executive with files on his father's project and followed him into a room with genetically altered spiders, one of which managed to stay in his clothes while he swatted the rest off and bit him.
  • On the way home as his powers begin to awaken he accidentally frightens a group of men and provokes them, resulting in them attacking him and him accidentally knocking them out cold, to which he apologizes before heading home and beginning to investigate the spider bite after finding the spider's deceased body.
  • When infiltrating Oscorp to find info on his father's spider experiment, he takes the name tag of another boy to get in, resulting in said boy getting kicked out by Oscorp security. However, Peter didn't intend for this to happen as he mostly took the name tag on a whim as a last minute decision and even then he did show remorse for it as he looked away guiltily while they kicked the other guy out. Even then, this feels like too minor a moment to be a true corrupting quality as it was an incidental moment of mischief which is a constant in practically every Spider-Man.
  • He then goes to Dr. Connors' place and introduces himself as Richard Parker's son discussing with the Doctor and giving him a possible successful formula for his research.
  • He tried to humiliate Flash until he accidentally broke the glass in the Basketball goal net being sent to the principal's office, however this isn't corrupting as not only was he unaware of his powers' capability and didn't want to cause damage but Flash had been bullying him for years by now.
    • Speaking of his interactions with Flash, while he does slam him onto the locker, that was only because he thought that Flash was gonna mess with him again, but when Flash actually apologized for bullying him as well as apologizing for Ben's death, he felt grief and remorse for what he did to Flash out of petty revenge. At the end, however, he and Flash later become friends.
  • While he was at Oscorp with Connors and developed a possibly successful formula to regrow mammal limbs, he had forgotten to pick up May and gets in an argument with Ben about it, leaving and accidentally breaking the glass door on his way out.
  • After not having enough to pay for a chocolate milk and being rudely denied by the clerk for being 2 cents short, he decides to do nothing as the store is robbed and the robber flees, shooting Ben as he tried to stop him. Hearing the gunshot, Peter goes to check on the victim and recognizing his uncle calls for help while calling emergencies, after Ben's death, Peter is given a sketch of the suspect and realizes it's the robber he allowed to flee. Over the next months, Peter would develop a vendetta against this robber and become a vigilante in NYC, using his powers to track down numerous thiefs that match the description given, though the first night he was quite ruthless and almost dropped a man off a building before realizing he had the wrong one, he mellowed out over time and by the time he finally finished making his Spider-Man suit, he simply joked around and easily subdued a thief with his webbing without harming him, though his vigilantism did get him in trouble with the NYPD.
  • Later on, Peter would reveal his identity to Gwen after getting in an argument with Captain Stacy over whether Spider-Man was a hero or a threat, though he quickly left to help people during the Lizard's attack on a bridge.
  • He fights the Lizard while trying to keep innocents safe and then goes to save a boy from a falling car, taking off his mask and giving it to him as motivation to be brave, saving his life and bringing him to his father, which would begin to earn him the trust of New York's citizens.
  • Later as he visits Connors and realizes he's mutated into Lizard, he goes to warn Captain Stacy but upon being dismissed, he instead goes down to the sewers where he uses his web's vibrations to locate Lizard through his movements, coming across his underground lab and being brutally attacked.
  • He then fights Lizard when he attacks the school to kill Peter, trying to reason with his former mentor and after the police arrives, he decides to ask Gwen to make an antidote to cure Connors.
  • On his way to Oscorp however, he is assaulted and injured by NYPD officers led by captain Stacy, in spite of this he fights back in self-defense with no real aggression by webbing them up before they can see his face, though he is forced to reveal his identity to George who realizes Peter doesn't want to hurt people and lets him go, though an officer shoots him in the leg.
  • Because of his injuries, Peter isn't able to make it by himself to Oscorp, but the man who's son he saved on the bridge sees him on TV and has the crane operators line up a path for Spider-Man showing the positive impact he had on New Yorkers.
  • Arriving successfully at Oscorp, he fights the Lizard head on before being assisted by Captain Stacy, being able to stop the Lizard from turning all of New York into lizard mutates by using Gwen's antidote to reverse the reptiliam serum, curing Connors though he did fatally wound Captain Stacy.
  • As Captain Stacy dies, he made Peter promise to stay away from Gwen to keep her out of harm's way, he obliged by not going to his funeral and avoiding Gwen for a few days until she figured out why he was isolating himself. Peter eventually decided to get back together with Gwen and continued his duties as Spider-Man, assisting to help in police reports.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2[]

  • While swinging through the city and hearing of a stolen Oscorp truck, he immediately heads out to stop the criminals responsible and on the way saves Max Dillon from being ran over, reassuring him that he's not a nobody before heading back out and catching all the explosive substances on the truck to prevent possible collateral damage
  • Getting a call from Gwen he briefly has a hallucination of the deceased Captain Stacy showing he still has some guilt over his death and not keeping his promise, shaking it off he goes back and stops the runaway truck while also preventing a bus from turning over and hitting a man and his grandaughter.
  • He then gets the plutoniom back from Aleksei as he webs him up and leaves for his graduation. Later he continues to be haunted by his memory of George and tries to distance himself from Gwen leading to them breaking up.
  • Over the course of the next few months, Peter continued to keep the city safe even while public opinion on him varied between a hero and a menace.
  • Later after seeing that Norman Osborn had passed away on the news, he reaches out to Harry to try to comfort him as he did for him when his parents died, rekindling their friendship and hanging out together.
  • Later, he meets up with Gwen to chat so they can clear up the awkardness and be friends where she reveals she's gotten an Oxford scholarship and is moving to England, however during this Max who had fallen into a vat of eels and gotten horribly mutated, stumbles unto Times Square and begins absorbing electricity, accidentally causing havoc, which Peter sensed and headed out to investigate.
  • Once there he saves a cop from getting crushed by a car and begins talking to Max and tries to peacefully talk him down and help him with his condition, convincing him to go talk away from innocents before a police officer shoots at Max and causes him to lash out forcing Peter to try and web him and save an officer from being crushed by a falling sign. Even then he still tries to talk to Max before he snaps and then prevents a car from crushing innocents as well as saving several people from being electrocuted by the metal poles on a staircase.
  • As Max overloads and begins destroying Times Square, Peter knocks him out with a hose from a firetruck before anyone is fatally injured.
  • He begins investigating his father's research once more as well as working on a possible cure for Electro before being contacted by Harry for help due to him suffering from the same disease that killed Norman, hoping to find a cure within Richard's research. Concluding that Spider-Man had been bitten by one of the genetically modified spiders, Harry asks Peter for help in getting Spider-Man's blood due to him taking Spider-Man's picture for the Bugle, with Peter reluctantly agreeing to try.
  • On his way out, he ran into Gwen and finds out that Oscorp is covering Max's incident, helping her leave without being caught by security guards.
  • Getting home, he finds May seeing his research on his parents and asks the truth with the two opening up to each other and Peter apologizing for all the stress May's been through, she then tells him how the government had told her and Ben how Richard betrayed everyone for money on his research.
  • In a rage over how everything's going, Peter tears down his research wall and accidentally breaks a calculator where he finds subway tokens which he used to find his father's research lab in the subways. There, he discovers the truth over his father leaving and his demise and how the genetically modified spiders had Richard's own DNA to keep Oscorp from replicating them.
  • On his way out, he finds out Gwen has already left for England after getting into Oscorp and uses his webs to write a love message for her on the Brooklyn Bridge and revealed he'd go with her to England. Just then however, a massive blackout hit the city as a result of Electro and Harry joining forces, with Electro cutting out the entire city, with Peter getting the idea from Gwen to magnetize his webshooters and leaving to stop Max but not before webbing Gwen's hand to a police car so she doesn't follow him and put herself at risk.
  • Peter and Electro then meet at the power plant for a final battle where Peter manages to overpower Electro with his magnetized webs before Electro attacks back but is knocked over by Gwen with a police car.
  • He then asks Gwen to turn back on the power plant no matter what while he fights Electro, holding him off long enough for Gwen to reset the lights after he webs the generator back together, saving several flights from colliding, allowing medical surgeries to continue and preventing incidents across the city as well as taking out Electro.
  • When the mutated Harry arrives now as the Green Goblin, Peter tries to help him and calm him down before he takes Gwen with Peter trying to get him to leave her out of it until he drops her.
  • Peter then catches her but is blown back by Harry, putting Gwen safely down while the two continue to fight. As the fight reached a climax, Gwen ended up dangling by a webline as Peter tried to save her and fight Harry at the same time, managing to subdue him but having his web broken as Gwen fell. Peter then dived down inmediately to save Gwen, using a web to catch her but not before Gwen hit the ground and died leaving a heartbroken Peter as he tried to talk to her.
  • After Gwen's funeral, a heartbroken Peter quit being Spider-Man for five months, during which he'd visit her grave. However, after Aleksei was broken out of prison, Peter was urged by May to urge through Ben, Gwen and his parents' old belonging, finally hearing her graduation speech and being inspired by her will to hope, choosing to bring back Spider-Man due to the symbol of hope he was to the citizens of New York.
  • As the Rhino attacked the streets of New York, a young boy named Jorge who'd been saved by Spider-Man months earlier stepped out infront of Rhino, just then, Spider-Man finally came back to confront Rhino.
  • While he did joke around with Rhino for a while instead of inmediately stopping him, this is hardly corrupting since it's something most Spider-Men do with their villains. While Rhino did crash into a bus, Peter was quick to stop it and prevent anyone from being harmed, and it's not as if he meant for Rhino to crash into another vehicles.

Spider-Man: No Way Home[]

  • Upon being transported to Earth-616 as a result of Doctor Strange's spell and meeting with Ned, MJ and Raimiverse Peter, realizing his MCU counterpart is in trouble, they head out to find him.
  • After finding MCU Peter, he and Raimi Peter try to talk to him and comfort him over the death of his Aunt May, bonding over the mantra of "with great power comes great responsibility", with Webb and Raimi Peter opening up about their losses in their worlds. Peter explains to his MCU counterpart his wrath and rage after Gwen's death at the hands of Harry, who killed her out of the same wrath and rage that the Peter-Two version of Green Goblin have had on his counterpart, and that he doesn't wish for him to end up like that too.
  • The three Spider-Men then team up in order to work on cures for each of the five villains, with Peter Three recreating his cure for Connors.
  • The three of them then set up the cures as traps in the Statue of Liberty and briefly bonded over their previous fights with villains such as Venom and Rhino before the villains arrived.
  • As Electro attacked, Peter goaded him while the others fought Sandman and Lizard, despite this they couldn't properly collaborate but MCU Peter managed to get them all together and the three improved their teamwork to take on the villains.
  • Peter tries to once more talk to Electro before accepting a fight as there was no other option, he then also saved Peter Two by giving him the Sandman Cure, restoring Flint back to normal.
  • As he and Peter Two were overwhelmed, Doc Ock arrived and cured Electro, after which Peter talked with him and finally made amends with Max, helping him up and clearing out their animosity.
  • When Doctor Strange arrived, he and Peter Two called him out for not being there to help Peter One, but just then the Green Goblin arrived and blew up the Machina De Kadavus resulting in the spell slipping out and opening the borders between universes.
  • As MCU MJ fell down the statue due to the explosion and MCU Peter was knocked away by the Green Goblin via his glider, Peter lept out and safely caught MJ achieving a sense of self-redemption over his past failures, briefly breaking down as he remembered Gwen's death.
  • As MCU Peter fought the Green Goblin and almost killed him, Peter Two stopped him and Peter Three threw his MCU counterpart the cure, finally curing Norman and destroying the Green Goblin. Thereby redeeming himself of his failure to help Harry who became the Green Goblin out of the same hatred that Raimiverse Green Goblin had of both Peter-One and Peter-Two.
  • The three Spider-Men then bid each other farewell as they returned to their home universes. He and Peter Two also inspired MCU Peter, who made a new Spider-Man suit drawing elements from both of their own suits.
  • Even after crossing over to Earth-616 for a while, he still easily passes the admirable standard due to how much he has acomplished with his capacity of resources in comparison to the MCU's heroes as well as playing a vital role in curing all the villains and saving them from certain death upon returning to their home universes.

Trivia[]

  • Peter was approved as NPG for a long time since it was believed he had some minor jerkish and arrogant moments. However, just like Raimiverse Peter, he had completely subverted these traits by No Way Home and had matured greatly.
  • He, alongside his late girlfriend Gwen Stacy, are the only characters from the Webbverse to be considered PG.
