Spottedleaf is a major supporting character in Erin Hunter’s Warriors book series. She is a former medicine cat from ThunderClan who interpreted the prophecy concerning Firestar about fire saving the Clan. She was murdered shortly after Firestar’s arrival in the forest and she ascended to StarClan, where she gave the latter omens to warn him about various future events.
She is the main protagonist in novella Spottedleaf’s Heart and a supporting character in The Prophecies Begin, The New Prophecy, Power of Three and Omen of the Stars arcs and in Super Editions Firestar’s Quest and Bluestar’s Prophecy.

What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- She’s an overall good medicine cat and has healed many of her comrades.
- In spite of the danger, she wants to help a dying Dark Forest spirit right after the latter suffered lethal blows from Thistleclaw, even though she probably committed something wrong to be in the Dark Forest.
- Despite really wanting to become a warrior, she decides to give up on her training and become a medicine cat in order to save her comrades from Thistleclaw’s bloodthirst and ambitions.
- She notices Bluestar leaving the camp with her kittens and later understands that she has left them intentionally, but she decides to keep her secret nonetheless, which she did all her life.
- She interprets the prophecy about Firestar (fire) coming to save ThunderClan.
- She overcomes her genuine feelings for Firestar and honors her oath to never take a mate as a medicine cat.
- Even after her death, she guides Firestar in his dreams by delivering him omens and warnings about Tigerstar.
- She gives Firestar one of his nine lives, the life for love.
- She supports Firestar during his final fight against Scourge.
- She brings burdock root to Firestar and Sandstorm to prepare for SkyClan’s battle against the rats.
- She reassures Sandstorm about Firestar’s love for her, displaying her affection for the she-cat, even though she is kind of a love rival.
- She helps Leafpool save Reedwhisker from drowning by giving her advice from StarClan.
- She intervenes when Tigerstar and Hawkfrost try to lure Jayfeather to their side, and she takes the young apprentice away from the Dark Forest territories.
- She chooses to accompany Jayfeather and Yellowfang into the Dark Forest despite how dangerous it is.
- She talks Yellowfang into returning to StarClan for her own safety and wellness, and she decides to continue the expedition alone with Jayfeather.
- She helps Jayfeather find Flametail on the ShadowClan part of StarClan’s territories, even though StarClan established borders at the time.
- When Flametail seems to leave Jayfeather to die in the quicksands, she manages to convince him to save him and she helps him to do so.
- She helps Jayfeather reunite StarClan in order to fight off the Dark Forest.
- She takes part in the battle against the Dark Forest, even though she’s a medicine cat, and she saves Sandstorm from Mapleshade, losing her spirit life and fading away forever in the process.
- When taunted by Mapleshade about saving the one who stole Firestar from her, Spottedleaf responded that Sandstorm “made him happy”, showing that she bears no grudge against Sandstorm.
- She subverted all of her minor corrupting qualities by the middle of the story & became one of the most noble medicine cats.
