Squidward J. Q. Tentacles is the deuteragonist of The Bikini Bottom Horror. He is an anthropomorphic octopus who, after SpongeBob had been "killed" by the Tortured One, chose to reform himself from a lazy, arrogant egotist to a selfless, slightly sarcastic hero that helped save Bikini Bottom.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He felt genuine remorse for his harsh seemingly last words to SpongeBob and apologized for not being a better friend, subverting his corrupting factors prior to the series.
- While he appeared to be somewhat arrogant due to calling his clarinet skills "real art", this is quickly subverted when Patrick points out how he is a boring musician, at which point he admits to not being good at music, and while this causes him to give up for a solid second, Sandy manages to motivate him to keep going, thus subverting his apparent arrogance.
- Saved Sandy from being ripped apart by the Patrick Clones.
- Tried to encourage Sandy to leave Bikini Bottom, not wanting her to get hurt.
- Protected Bikini Bottom from The Tortured One despite being severely outclassed by it (and unlike SpongeBob, he didn't do this for purely pragmatic reasons).
- Used his clarinet to take Sandy to the surface not wanting to lose another friend.
- Played a large part in The Tortured One's ultimate defeat by opening a hole in the seafloor that allowed SpongeBob to throw the Tortured One into the lava and finish him off.
- Saved SpongeBob, Patrick, Gary and Sandy from falling into lava after Patrick wanted to save SpongeBob.
- Upon Bikini Bottom being at peace once more, Squidward swore to himself to stop future threats from attacking the town.
- Him killing several Patrick Clones is a righteous act as he was protecting Bikini Bottom from them.
- Although he is sarcastic, most of his remarks are not meant to actively hurt anybody's feelings.
- His insults towards Patrick throughout the story are justified due to Patrick originally trying to destroy Bikini Bottom and kill Squidward himself, he also subverts this when he comes to respect Patrick and see him as a friend after he redeems himself.
- Him saying that Sandy looked like a beaver when she turned into "Mermaid Squirrel" was only said in jest as not only is this a one time thing, he also grows to appreciate her alter-ego in the epilogue.
Trivia[]
- He is one of very few Pure Good characters to be friends with a Pure Evil character, that being SpongeBob SquarePants (although he is unaware of this).
- He was originally considered Near Pure Good due to his sarcasm and his insults towards Patrick, however, it was decided later on that these preventions were subverted, letting Squidward be in the Pure Good Wiki.
- This is the only version of Squidward Tentacles to be Pure Good.
