Stanley "Caveman" Yelnats IV is the main protagonist of the 1998 novel Holes, as well as the 2003 live-action Disney film of the same name.
He is a teenager who was framed for stealing a pair of valued shoes, with him and his family having a curse from Madame Zeroni from centuries past.
In the 2003 film, he is portrayed by Shia LaBouf.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Despite the campers being mean, he was always polite to them and befriended them.
- He is an extremely caring friend towards Hector Zeroni, and also taught him how to read and write.
- After Hector ran away into the desert, he set out to save him.
- While he attempted to steal Mr. Sir's truck, it was justified since he only wanted to use it to save Hector.
- He climbed God's Thumb with Hector so they could survive the desert by taking refuge on it.
- After Hector became weak and exhausted during the climb to God's Thumb, he carried him up the mountain.
- This also inadvertently helped fulfill his family's curse.
- He forgave Hector when the latter revealed to have accidentally stolen the shoes and got Stanley framed for it.
- When his family claimed rightful ownership of the chest and the contents inside, he decided that half the money should go to Hector, which he used to track down his missing mother.
