Superboy (also known as Conner Kent and Kon-El, "born" March 21, 2010) is one of the main protagonists of the DC animated series, Young Justice.
He is a genomorph, a binary clone of Superman and Lex Luthor created to replace or kill Superman, as well as a founding member of the Team. He later became a member of the Kent family, becoming the younger adoptive brother of Superman. He's also the boyfriend and later, husband of M'Gann M'orzz.
He is voiced by Nolan North who also voiced Metroplex in Transformers: Prime Wars, and Smokescreen in Transformers: Prime.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- While he did have several corrupting factors in Season 1, such as wrathfulness, arrogance, envy and vengefulness, after season 2, he loses all of these corrupting factors, having learned to keep his emotions in-check and happily accepting support from others.
- He is one of the most morally righteous members of the Team, since he is the only member of the Team to never partake in any of the conspiracies or undercover operations created by Nightwing and Aqualad and he is the teammate most prone to objecting to the dubious morality of these actions.
- His heroic actions in 2030 inspire the creation of the Legion of Superheroes.
Season 1[]
- He frees Aqualad, Kid Flash, and Robin from their pods, leading them and the rest of the genomorphs to freedom.
- He works with his new companions to defeat Desmond and stopping him from imprisoning them and the rest of the genomorphs.
- He founds The Team alongside Aqualad, Kid Flash, and Robin, who would go on several missions the Justice League could not.
- He and the rest of the Team help to defeat Mister Twister.
- Though he initially yelled at Miss Martian after she used her telepathy to enter his mind, he later apologizes to her after the mission.
- Superboy goes with the Team to stop the Venom supply being produced at Santa Prisca.
- During the mission to Santa Prisca, when Miss Martian reminds Superboy of how poorly she led the team during their fight with Mister Twister, Superboy insists she did alright, causing M'Gann to blush in appreciation.
- When a bridge collapses, he works with Superman to repair the damage and save the people, with Superboy helping the stranded cars to safety.
- While initially rough and unwilling to train with Black Canary, after defeating AMAZO, he returns and tells Black Canary he was ready to cooperate and train with her.
- He manages to hold off and eventually defeat AMAZO mostly by himself, with some minor assistance from Aqualad, Kid Flash, Robin and Artemis.
- He assists Miss Martian during her fight with Psimon, allowing her to defeat him and free the Sphere.
- When he learns of M'Gann's true martian form during their mind meld against Psimon, he does not judge or discriminate her for it and waits for her to reveal the truth herself rather than confront her about it.
- Superboy adopts the alien sphere and bonds with it after several missions.
- He and Miss Martian infiltrate Belle Reve undercover as the Terror Twins to stop a prison break.
- During a therapy session in Belle Reve, when Miss Martian tries to bring up his issues with Superman, he barks at her, though feels guilty when he saw how his outburst hurt her. What's more, after talking with Icicle Jr., he begins to realize how he'd been mistreating Miss Martian and how much she meant to him since she accepted him regardless of his flaws.
- He goes to rescue Miss Martian when she's imprisoned by Killer Frost.
- He's initially angry with Aqualad for keeping the truth about there being a mole in the Justice League a secret, but after hearing Aqualad's reasoning, he forgives him for this and accepts him as the leader regardless.
- He and the Team go to India to investigate gorilla attacks, and assists in stopping the Brain from experimenting on the wild animals in the area. During the mission, he also adopts one of the mutated wolves.
- He goes with the Team and Zatanna to investigate the location of Red Tornado, and with them manages to stop Red Volcano from activating the supervolcano in Yellowstone and eradicating all of humanity.
- During the mental training exercise, he chooses to sacrifice himself to buy his friends time to enter the mothership and destroy it. Though it was a mental simulation, all of them had forgotten this, and he readily sacrificed his life believing he would die.
- He works with the Forever People to recover stolen technology from Intergang.
- While he initially refused to accept counseling from Black Canary, he eventually returned and revealed that he felt happy and at peace during the training simulation because it made him feel like Superman. He expresses tremendous guilt over this since all the rest of his teammates had suffered during the training exercise.
- When the world is split into two dimensions to separate the children from adults, Superboy works to help all the children who were too young or needed help, then goes with the rest of the Team to stop Klarion and restore the world to its proper state.
- Superboy and the Team go to Qurac to stop Queen Bee from manipulating the nation's leader into absorbing the territory to become part of Bialya.
- When M'Gann reveals her "true" Martian form, Superboy insists that she didn't have to put on a mask for her, which was his subtle way of insisting that he didn't care about her true form.
- After learning from Lex Luthor that there was another Superboy clone in Cadmus, he goes to Cadmus to locate and free the clone. Upon finding the clone "Match" he frees him and attempts to reason with the clone even after it continuously attacks him.
- He is enraged when he sees Match subdued and controlled telepathically by Genomorphs, and only reluctantly agrees to put Match back on ice due to his unstable mind.
- He goes with the Team to Haly's Circus to successfully stop Parasite from using stolen technology to create a black hole.
- Superboy and the Team go to locate Chesire, managing to retrieve the stolen case that had eluded them before and capture several of the villains who'd ambushed them.
- When tempted by Lex Luthor to join him at Santa Prisca with the promise of more Shields, he refuses to join Luthor despite knowing the power the shields would give him, and works with the rest of the Team to detain several of the villains who were meeting in Santa Prisca.
- He reveals the truth about his parental lineage and the shields Luthor gave him, apologizing for nearly getting Artemis killed in the previous battle due to the boost in rage the shields caused.
- He and the rest of the Team work to free the Justice League from the mental control of the Light.
Season 2[]
- He leads a small army of allies to free the Genomorphs from Cadmus and bring them to the surface to create a society for them.
- He harshly objects to Miss Martian abusing her powers by ripping the information out of suspects and leaving them in a catatonic state, and breaks up with her only after she used her powers to try and make Superboy forget he was angry with her.
- Though he is slightly jealous of the relationship with Lagoon Boy and Miss Martian and views Lagoon Boy as a jerk, he still admits that he treats M'Gann well and does not try to interfere with their relationship.
- Superboy goes with a team to stop the Kroloteans from invading the Earth. During the mission, he's shown interacting positively with Superman, proving he's forgiven him for having treated him coldly before and not giving him any emotional support when he needed it.
- He and Blue Beetle go to the Hall of Justice to stop an Appellaxian Golem. But after Blue Beetle communicates with it and reveals it was in constant pain, Superboy tries to reason with it and offer it help. When the Golem is destroyed by Black Beetle, Superboy is saddened by its demise.
- He goes undercover to rescue several teammates and innocent teenagers who were captured by the Light and the Reach.
- Superboy fights with Captain Marvel, Miss Martian, Bumblebee, Mal, and Zatanna to stop Despero from killing his comrades. During the fight, Superboy chastises M'Gann for leaving Mal to fight Despero alone, since Mal has no powers, and helps defeat Despero after he was mentally incapacitated.
- When Nightwing reveals the truth about Artemis' fake death and Aqualad going undercover to Lagoon Boy and Superboy, he defends Nightwing to Lagoon Boy by saying Nightwing must have had his reasons in order to maintain Lagoon Boy's trust in Nightwing. When they exit the room, Superboy rightfully chastises his friend for keeping this secret since it resulted in M'Gann destroying Aqualad's mind, threatening the safety of M'Gann, Artemis, and Aqualad in the process because of his secrets.
- He goes with The Team to infiltrate the Warworld and stop Mongul from the destroying the planet.
- At the meeting between The Light and the Reach, Superboy is one of the heroes to stop the villains, succeeding in capturing several of them.
- Superboy and Miss Martian manage to convince the judge on Rimbor to free the Justice League, succeeding in proving their innocence and freeing them from unjust imprisonment.
- He joins the rest of the heroes in stopping the Beetle-Tech drones from activating and destroying the Earth's magnetic field, saving the planet.
- He forgives M'Gann for tampering with his mind, restoring their relationship and allowing Miss Martian to redeem herself for her actions by seeing the error of her ways.
Season 3[]
- When M'Gann is concerned about Superboy going on a mission and whether she could count on him, he assures M'Gann she could count on him and asks her to marry him to prove it.
- Superboy goes on a mission with Nightwing's team to stop a meta-human trafficking syndicate in Markovia.
- When Brion's meta-gene is activated, Superboy helps calm him down and regain his composure.
- He allows Brion to stay at his house, spending time with him and mentoring him due to seeing his old self in Brion.
- Superboy works with Nightwing and Artemis to train Brion, Violet, and Forager to master their powers and teamwork skills.
- Superboy goes with the Team to rescue Tara from a meta-human auction. While there, he encounters Icicle Jr., who he engages in casual conversation with and reveals he was engaged with Miss Martian. This shows he still valued the friendship he made with Icicle Jr. while in Belle Reve even years later and despite the fact he was still a villain.
- He boomtubes to Superman's location, helping him defeat the Parademons he was fighting and asking Superman to be his best man at his wedding.
- He and Black Lightning go to find Metron and bring him to help cure Victor by stopping the Fatherbox from taking over his body and placing Victor in Metron's chair. When Metron refuses, Superboy and Black Lightning attack Metron to keep him distracted long enough to place Victor in the chair, saving his life.
- After learning of the secret operation formed by Batman, Nightwing, and M'Gann, while he's angry with M'Gann for lying to him and their comrades, Superboy still gives her the chance to explain herself.
- Once Vandal Savage gives the Team the coordinates to Halo, Superboy goes with the Team to rescue Halo. During the mission, it's revealed that many members of the League were under the control Granny Goodness, and when Aqualad tells M'Gann to destroy all their minds, Superboy objects, not wanting M'Gann to commit such a heinous act. He only reluctantly relents when Miss Martian reminds him of what's at stake.
- Superboy is disgusted by Brion's decision to kill his uncle, chastising him by saying that wasn't what heroes did, and is greatly saddened when Brion usurps the throne and expels the Team from Markovia.
- Superboy publicly revealed his status as a clone and a genomorph at the United Nations and exposed Lex Luthor's illegal activities, helping the Genomorph community finally be a part of human society while also forcing Lex Luthor to step down as Secretary-General of the United Nations.
- When he's alone with M'Gann, he apologizes for how he spoke to her before and brought up the painful past, stating that she made hard choices and did what she had to while admitting he couldn't live without M'Gann in his life.
Season 4[]
- When he goes to Mars with M'Gann and Garfield to have a Martian wedding with M'Gann, he kindly greets M'Gann's parents and asks them permission to marry their daughter.
- Upon meeting J'eem J'axx, the Prince of Mars, he respectfully bows to the prince and agrees with his request to help them investigate the death of his father.
- When J'eem J'axx psychically gives them all the information on the murder case, Superboy stops Garfield from attacking and calms him down due to the effects of the prince's telepathy overwhelming Garfield's mind.
- Superboy investigates the murder of the Martian King alongside M'Gann and Beast Boy.
- When Garfield freaks out and knocks Superboy unconscious to bring him up to the surface to recharge his energy, his oxygen tank is damaged and he nearly dies until he's rescued by the prince and M'Gann's father. After Garfield's mind is restored, he compassionately hugs Garfield and assures him he wasn't going anywhere.
- Superboy thanks the prince for inviting him to his party and consoles the prince when he somberly notes this was the first birthday party he had without his father.
- When discovering a biological bomb in the room, he chooses to deal with the bomb himself by destroying it in a lava flow underneath him. Despite being weakened by the lack of solar energy, he destroys the floor beneath him, greatly injuring himself and bleeding profusely from his hands to reach the lava flow. He then sacrifices himself by destroying the bomb, saving the Red and Green Martians from being wiped out.
- When he's stuck in the Phantom Zone, he finds an unconscious girl and takes her with him to try and escape the alternate dimension, fighting several monsters and enduring several dangers to protect her and return home.
- He tries to save General Zod when he is being taken by the Phantom Zone Projector.
- While he didn't listen to Phantom Girl that Zod was evil, and later fought his teammates on Zod's orders, this was due to his memory loss he suffered while being in the Phantom Zone, thus reverting him back to his former programming and not by his free will.
- When General Zod orders Connor to kill Superman, in spite of being under his mental control, he refuses, saying that Superman was family to him.
- Even after General Zod manipulated him into joining his side, he offers Zod a chance to peacefully surrender, showing gratitude for being saved in the Phantom Zone.
- Alongside Superman, he defeats General Zod and sends him back to the Phantom Zone.
- He invites Icicle Jr. to his wedding despite being a criminal.
- He agrees with Kaldur about moving the Kryptonians out of the Phantom Zone, sympathizing with their situation and not wanting to keep them imprisoned for eternity.
