Clark Kent, also known as Superman, is the titular main protagonist of the 1978 superhero film Superman, as well as the canonical sequels Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut and Superman Returns. He also returned as a major protagonist in CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths, the latter of which is the sixth Arrowverse crossover event.
He was portrayed by the late Christopher Reeve in the 1978 movie and the Richard Donner Cut. In Superman Returns and the subsequent spin-offs, he was portrayed by Brandon Routh.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
Superman (1978)[]
- When Jonathan and Martha Kent discovered him after he was sent to Earth, he lifted the truck in order to save his soon-to-be father's life.
- After learning his superhuman abilities, he decided to devote himself in doing the right thing and make everyone happy.
- After his father died of stroke, he felt extreme guilt and remorse and thought he could have saved him.
- He bid farewell to his mother and went to the Arctic to discover the Fortress of Solitude after hearing the guide from his late biological father, he then trained and refined his abilities in the fortress within 12 years, and was ready to embark on his heroic journey.
- After returning to civilization, he quickly got along with others and masked himself as a reporter in order to have an honest career, along with his heroic life.
- When Lois Lane was in a helicopter accident, he quickly saved her and other crew members and made sure no one was harmed, hence Lois named him "Superman".
- After knowing the evil plan to target the San Andreas Fault by Lex Luthor, he then quickly took action to stop him as soon as possible.
- After getting tricked by Lex and was later saved by Eve, his assistant, he then quickly threw the eastbound missile to space.
- He counteracted the damage caused by the westbound missile by mending the fault line. Both of his acts significantly saved countless lives.
- After witnessing Lois Lane's death because he could not save her in time, he then reverted time, disregarding his father's advice, because he could not bear someone's undeserved death. This resulted in the missile never being launched and no lives being harmed.
- He finally helped imprison Lex Luthor and his allies.
Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut[]
- When Lois Lane attempted to jump from the window just to prove he was Superman, he then quickly saved her, at the same time, he managed to hide his identity.
- He rescued a young boy who almost jumped into the river in Niagara Falls.
- After Lois knew his identity as Superman, he then voluntarily removed his powers just to live happily together with Lois to avoid any troubles.
- After Lois was provoked by an obnoxious trucker, he then stood up for her and tried to defeat him without powers.
- After knowing humanity was endangered by General Zod, he then went back to Fortress of Solitude to convince his late father to get him back his powers, just to save everyone.
- He saved countless of civilians when he went back to Metropolis, including the endangered bus passengers; as well as to lure Zod and Lex to the Fortress.
- He altered the Fortress's red sun power to affect the people outside the fortress, which neutralized all of the Kryptonian criminals' powers, stopping them from endangering the citizens further.
- After seeing the destruction made by Zod and Lex, he reverted back time once again, to rebuilt the city and his fortress, as well as to place Zod and his allies back to the Phantom Zone, although he had to sacrifice his relationship with Lois.
- He then revisited the diner and defeated the obnoxious trucker easily.
Superman Returns[]
- After defeating General Zod, he then travelled to space in order to find former home world of Krypton after astronomers have supposedly found it.
- After returning to Earth and heard of Lex Luthor's another ultimate evil plan to submerge America into water, he then immediately started his comeback journey in saving the world, to prevent millions from being killed.
- Although many people he knew moved on from him, including Lois Lane, he still remained hopeful and kept doing the right thing to protect the world from Lex Luthor.
- He attempted to minimize the damages causing to Metropolis by Lex .
- Before confronting Lex Luthor, he prioritized in saving civilians, including Lois Lane, Richard and Jason White.
- After Lois removed the Kryptonite shard in his body, he then rushed to lift the huge landmass caused by Lex out to space, saving millions of innocent lives.
- After recovering from his short coma, he then visited Jason, who was revealed to be his biological son, then passed on to him his father Jor-El's speech.
- He reassured Lois that he would always come back to save the world when needed, before flying away.
Crisis on Infinite Earths (2019)[]
- He previously raised his son Jason before the events of Crisis.
- Instead of getting himself corrupted, he still remained hopeful and willing to help despite the deaths of Lois Lane and several of the other Daily Planet members. He adopted black in his chest symbol to represent that hope can cut out the darkness.
- When Iris West-Allen, Lois and Clark went for his help, he was willing to listen to them and help them save the multiverse.
- He tried to evacuate as many people as possible from the Earths getting destroyed during the Crisis and tried to defend the Quantum Towers alongside J'onn J'onnz.
- After the Crisis was undone and the people he lost never died in the new multiverse, he continued working as a hero.
