Tadashi Hamada is the overarching protagonist of Disney's Big Hero 6 franchise, serving as the overarching protagonist of Big Hero 6, and a posthumous protagonist of Big Hero 6: The Series.
He was Hiro Hamada's older brother, the eldest nephew of Cass Hamada, and a genius inventor who took a lot of steps to build Baymax, according to Baymax's flashback.
He was voiced by Daniel Henney. In the Japanese dub from the movie, he was voiced by Kotaro Koizumi.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- In spite of the deaths of his parents, remained an optimistic and determined inventor who refused to give up on helping people, devoting a lot of time and effort in order to perfect Baymax despite numerous setbacks, finally succeeding after 84 attempts.
- After the deaths of their parents, serves as a parental figure for Hiro when they were growing up.
- He comes to Hiro's aid to save him from Mr. Yama and his goons. While he was aggravated at Hiro for going to illegal bot-fights and getting them both arrested, these are excusable as Hiro endangered himself by scamming a criminal.
- Created Baymax as a robotic nurse in order to help many people.
- He encourages Hiro to steer away from bot-fighting and instead put his intelligence to good use at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.
- When Hiro is struggling to come up with an idea for the science fair, Tadashi helps him by telling Hiro to look from a different angle, helping Hiro to develop Microbots.
- He congratulates Hiro on being enrolled at the university.
- He runs inside the burning building to try and save his mentor.
- His creation, Baymax, helped Hiro overcome his grief and become a better person.
- His death inspired Hiro and his friends to honor Tadashi's memory and become heroes to help people.
- While Hiro, Baymax, and the other members of Big Hero Six were more admirable than Tadashi, with him having same/similar resources to them, Tadashi has only appeared physically in the first film and it is possible that he would've been just as admirable as them had he not died.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Big Hero 6 hero to be Pure Good, since every other character in the series either has moral agency issues or has several moments of being mischievous and reckless.
