Starting the series as a timid magic user with an abusive upbringing, Tara met Willow Rosenberg and her friends, who fought against the town's demons, becoming Willow's girlfriend and the "Scooby Gang"s ally. What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- Played a role in helping the Scooby Gang defeat the threats that the Hellmouth spawned.
- She stood up to her homophobic parents.
- Unlike Willow she used her powers to help and benefit others.
- Told Willow to stop abusing her powers.
- Despite breaking up with Willow, she still continued to check in with her to see if she was okay.
- Provided emotional support for both Buffy and Dawn after their mother's death.
- In doing so she also defended Spike, noting that the latter genuinely loved Buffy and had done good protecting the people of Sunnydale (something not even Buffy's other friends were willing to acknowledge).
- Forgave Willow for having used her powers to manipulate her mind.
- When Warren Mears murdered her (trying to kill Buffy), her last words were asking if Willow was okay before dying a few seconds later.
- Overall she was one of the most helpful and compassionate characters of the show, never holding a grudge against anybody, not even her abusive family.
