Ted Shackleford is the deuteragonist of the Curious George movies and TV series. He is an insecure yet selfless man who saved the Bloomsberry Museum and adopted a monkey, George, from the jungle.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

Curious George[]

  • When the Bloomsberry Museum was about to close down, he begged (regrettedly) to go to Africa to find an artifact for the museum. He was shocked at what he said, but went anyway.
  • He tries to tell Mr. Bloomsberry that the idol they found was too small, but accidentally told him it was huge.
  • He plays with George and gives him his hat.
  • After Ivan kicks them out of the apartment building, and after George accidentally destroys the dinosaur statue, he has a heating-up period where he calls animal control and falsely accuses George of being a dangerous monkey, but soon regrets it and plays fireflies with George.
  • He saves George's life when the balloons that he's riding pop and George falls into Ted's arms.
  • With Clovis's holograph machine, he plans to make an illusion of the small idol to make it look big for the audience, again to save the museum.
  • After Junior frames George for destroying the holograph machine with coffee, he gets mad at George again, then animal control comes to take George away, and Ted insecurely goes along with it, but a few minutes later starts to miss George and even starts being playful.
  • He drives his car super fast over the water to get to George in the cargo ship, then jumping in the ocean and grabbing an anchor that just pulled up and using it to break a window, risking his life to save George.
  • He finds out about the real message of the idol, and stays on the ship to Africa to find the real giant idol, has people bring it back and finally saves the museum, even turning it into an educational playplace for kids, just like he said to Junior, "The world doesn't need another parking lot, the world needs a place for kids to grow."
  • When George got into the rocket ship, he quickly jumps in to keep George out of trouble, then they go around the Earth several times.

Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey![]

  • Although he was initially obsessed on being director of the museum, Ted came to realize that spending time with friends and family is much more important than his work.
  • He took George to see Kayla at the magic show.
  • While he did initially want to take Kayla back to Mr. Piccadilly even after finding out why George took them all the California, it's only because he knew how worried Mr. Piccadilly was about Kayla and not to mention that Danno Wolfe made them fugitives on the run despite the fact he called and tried to explain everything. Futhermore, after George got mad at him, Ted decided to take Kayla to see her family.
  • When Danno Wolfe captured him and George, Ted assured George that Maggie will take very good care of him and told him that he doesn't want to leave him either.
  • He, George and Kayla broke out of the plane to bring Kayla to Mr. Piccadilly and explain everything to him.
  • After successfully reuniting Kayla with her family, Ted, Maggie and George invite Mr. Piccadilly to their picnic and were all very happy that Kayla's family got to be part of his act.

Curious George 3: Back To The Jungle[]

  • Although he was reluctant to allow George to do the mission in outter space, he quickly changes his mind as long as he goes through training and wishes him good luck after he completes his training.
  • When George got lost in the jungle, Ted goes out to find him.
  • He showed remorse for the way he yelled at George and later apologized for calling him bad.
  • He and George went to the broken space ship to get the RDS.
  • He helped George save the lion, despite the fact it tried to eat them.
  • He made a kite for George so he can fly him directly towards the tower so he can save every animal in the jungle from being killed in a dangerous flood.

TV Series[]

  • He became a very good parental figure to George and treats him more like a son rather than a pet.
