Thorax is a supporting character in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic who first appeared in Season 6 premiere "The Crystalling" as background cameo character before making his first major debut in Season 6 episode "The Time They Are A Changeling".
Unlike his fellow Changelings, he only wants to learn more about friendship instead of just feeding on love like most of his subjects. Following Queen Chrysalis' defeat and dethronement, he became the new leader of the Changelings and treats his subjects better unlike her.
He was voiced by Kyle Rideout.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
Season 6[]
- Unlike his fellow Changelings, he is the only one of them who is shown to be nice and friendly towards other rather than acting vicious and feral like the rest of his kind. Instead, he wanted to share love and learn more about friendship despite other ponies are feared and resent them.
- When he first met Spike, he never intended to scare him just because he's a Changeling. After saving Spike from falling into chasm, they later become friends after Spike discover his desire to learn about friendship.
- While disguised himself as Crystal Hoof when Spike helps him blend in with other ponies, he acts kind and friendly to Princess Twilight and other Crystal Ponies.
- Though he used to have predatory instincts as shown when he was aroused by Flurry Heart's love inside of her, it was naturally one of his kinds' traits and he cannot help it but being unable to control it. However, he became horrified of how he acted towards others. Through Spike and the others' help, he managed to overcome it and doesn't showed again throughout the series.
- Despite he gave up trying to befriend with other ponies and is angry at Spike because they only saw him as an "evil" Changeling, he later saved him from falling into chasm for the second time, encouraging him to stand up for him and convince the ponies to give him another chance.
- Became touched when the ponies are accepting him as their friends and welcomed him to the Crystal Empire.
- Went to warn Twilight Sparkle about the Changeling invasion after being sent by Sunburst, but only to discover that she's gotten captured by them.
- Teamed up with Starlight Glimmer, Trixie Lulamoon and Discord to stop Queen Chrysalis and the Changelings and also saved their loved ones.
- Attempt to warn Discord about the magic is drained in the Changeling Kingdom.
- Disguised himself as Starlight Glimmer so she could destroy Chrysalis' throne, but only for his disguise to be revealed.
- Encouraged by Starlight, he decide to share his whole love with Queen Chrysalis, which transformed himself into colorful form and that led his kind to follow the same suite as him, redeeming themselves and turn back against her after realize that she wasn't really benevolent as they have saw. After Chrysalis' defeat, he became the new leader of the Changelings.
Season 7[]
- Attend Starlight's graduation ceremony.
- Attempt to convince several of his subjects to give up on their old ways and move on to the new ways, so he went to Ponyville to ask Spike for help.
- Though he went to fought Ember, it's because he tried to defend her from Spike as he's clearly mistaken her for attacking him.
- Though he and Ember got mad at Spike after he stops their fight, it's because they got hurt when he thought they wouldn't get along with each other and were very disappointed over his dishonesty.
- While Ember taught him to be an assertive leader, he taught her how to be sensitive towards her subjects. As result, they later get along and became friends.
- He and Ember forgive Spike for his mistake of accidentally invite them to Ponyville at the same day and assumed they wouldn't get along if they met each other.
- He and Ember took part in the ceremony of unite their kinds in friendship.
- Attempt to convince his older brother Pharynx to abandon their old ways and embrace their new ways.
- Unlike the other Changelings who feared and resent him, he is the only one who shows care for his brother and refused to banish him because they're family.
- Despite his refusal to change his ways and antagonistic nature, he still saved his brother from Maulwurf and help him defeat the creature. After that, Pharynx changed into his colorful form.
Season 8[]
- To represent the Changelings, he enrolled Ocellus to Twilight's School of Friendship when she opens the place.
- He and the other leader of the creatures are attending the School of Friendship for Friends and Family Day.
- Though he pulled Ocellus away from the School of Friendship, it was clearly out of disgust at Chancellor Neighsay for badmouthing his kind and other creatures and later closed down the school out of spite.
- Became worried when Ocellus is missing alongside her creature friends.
- He and the others are standing up to Chancellor Neighsay for his actions against his kind and other creatures.
Season 9[]
- He had a right thing to get mad at Ocellus for leaving the Changeling Kingdom without permission, though he later allows her to stay with her friends as he understands that they want to honor the Tree of Harmony after its destruction at the hands of King Sombra.
- He and the other Equestria forces are join in with the Mane Six to help them fight against the Legion of Doom after he and his subjects are being rallied by Ocellus with friendship statements.
- Attend Twilight's coronation ceremony.
