~ Tod |
Tod is one of the two titular protagonists (along with Copper) of Disney's 24th full-length animated feature film The Fox and the Hound and its 2006 direct-to-video midquel The Fox and the Hound 2.
In the original film he was voiced by Keith Coogan as his younger self and by the late Mickey Rooney (who also voiced Santa Claus in Santa Claus is Comin' to Town) as his adult self. In the midquel he was voiced by Jonah Bobo.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
First film[]
- As a baby, he is saddened when his mother got killed by a hunter.
- He initially got feisty at Widow Tweed first while she was trying to adopt him, but he later calmed down during this.
- As a cub, he is friendly towards Copper.
- He is sad he didn’t get to say goodbye to Copper while he, Chief and Amos Slade are leaving for a hunting trip.
- He is also naïve, by refusing to believe Big Mama's warnings about Copper becoming a hunting dog. He believes that he and Copper will be friends forever.
- When Dinky and Boomer showed him Amos Slade’s victimized animals he killed, he mourns the losses of them.
- As an adult, he felt remorse for hurting Chief.
- He showed love towards Vixey, despite insulting her previously.
- After he mated with Vixey, when he heard that she planned on having six children, he was confused at first and later accepting it possibly.
- While fighting Copper in the climax, he never attempted a fatal wound and was only doing it out of self-defense, showing that despite everything, he didn't want to kill his friend.
- He almost died saving Copper from a grizzly bear despite the fact he attempted to kill him earlier, and leaving Copper to his fate would mean that he and Vixey would be safe.
Second film[]
- In his youth, he saved Copper from getting ran over by a truck.
Trivia[]
- He is the second Disney fox to be Pure Good (the first being Robin Hood).
