Thomas Michael "Tom" Wachowski is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Tails) of the Sonic Cinematic Universe.

He is a cop who helped Sonic and co. to protect Green Hill from the forces of Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

He is portrayed by James Marsden.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

In General[]

Despite the high admirable standards, even compared to other humans like Eggman, he manages to stand out due to his low resources and always mentoring Sonic with good habits. While Sonic is more admirable, Tom still stands out, being just a regular human.
- Although, he did have the warp rings in his hand at times and doesn't use them, this doesn't make him fail the standards as he does not know how to use the rings in the films.

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

While he did put Sonic in an unconscious state, it was out of self-defense as he didn't know who he was prior to their proper introduction and assumed he was a threat.
He was initially annoyed by Sonic's antics until he later warmed up to him and enjoying his company.
Helped Sonic to escape from Dr. Robotnik during their pursuit.
Helped Sonic alongside Maddie on top of the tower to retrieve the ring to help him get back home.
He decided to help Sonic with his bucket list before he would leave Earth.
When he saw Sonic being unconscious after Dr. Robotnik's bomb exploded, he wasted no time to help him out.
Helped distracting Robotnik before he could attack Sonic.
He felt genuine concern when he thought Sonic was dead after he fell off Robotnik's Egg-Pod.
When Robotnik wanted explanation why Tom would risk his life to help out Sonic, Tom rightfully tells Robotnik that Sonic known more about humans than Robotnik ever will, tells him that Earth is Sonic's home, and that Sonic is his friend.
After Robotnik's defeat, he gave Sonic the high five he wanted at the beginning of the movie.
At near the end of the first movie, he and Maddie moved Sonic's cave items to the former's attic as his new home.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]

Throughout the events of the second movie, he raised Sonic as a son, giving him advice and guidance on how to be a better hero.
While he punched Rachel's fiancé Randall (Sonic's ring was on his possession), it was only because he just needed to grab the ring to save Sonic and Tails in an avalanche.
Even though he initially threatened Sonic with an implied punishment in a harsh tone for supposedly destroying Rachel's wedding with the avalanche, he withdrew it as Sonic quickly explained that Robotnik had returned to get revenge on everyone who wronged him, especially Sonic.
- He also knew Sonic had no reason to lie about Robotnik's return, as they both knew the villain would eventually return somehow, and that he would do anything to get rid of not only Sonic but also Tom and Maddie.
Saved Sonic and Tails from the G.U.N. capturing pursuit.
- While he was hostile to G.U.N. agents as he punched one of them, he only did it to try to free Sonic and Tails from their cages before being physically restrained by Randall.
- It's also justified for him and Maddie to chew out Commander Walters for allowing Robotnik more time to find the Master Emerald Temple without much interference.
Alongside Maddie, they reached to Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to save them from Robotnik's attack.
Protected Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles from being killed by Robotnik, though Sonic did end up in his super form and successfully ended Robotnik's reign.
He decided to adopt Tails and Knuckles as a part of his family as well.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3[]

After throwing an "B-Earth-Day" party for Sonic, while sympathizing with Sonic about missing Longclaw, he gave him a motivating advice about not letting pain change who he is, and how family and friends can help guide him to a rightful path.
He along with Maddie agreed to help Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles infiltrate to the G.U.N. headquarters in London to get the heavily guarded and isolated keycard before Shadow the Hedgehog, Dr. Robotnik, and his grandfather Professor Gerald Robotnik get it as they already had another.
Even though it was up to no avail, he peacefully tried to explain to Shadow, who had arrived into the headquarters in front of him, regarding his true identity as he disguised as Commander Walters to get the keycard from Director Rockwell before being seriously injured by Shadow.
His motivating guidance from earlier in the film played a role in making Sonic (who became Super Sonic after acquiring the Master Emerald) come to his senses as he was about to finish Shadow off for nearly killing Tom, since Sonic realizes that revenge is something his friend/adoptive father would never want.
- Not only that, but Sonic and Shadow, after empathizing with each other's painful pasts and that Shadow changed for the better, join forces and worked together, along with Tails, Knuckles, and even Dr. Robotnik, to save the world from Professor Gerald Robotnik's Eclipse Cannon.
While he had a mean-spirited moment at the G.U.N. headquarters in which he considered Maddie's disguise as Director Rockwell physically attractive, it was not actually malicious or corrupting, as he only mischievously joked about the disguise before being hit while the scene is played for comedy.
- Plus, in the entire film series, he has showed all moments that he absolutely loves his wife and has displayed nothing truly adulterous or womanizing that would emotionally harm Maddie (not to mention that he never even interacted with Rockwell when she arrived at Green Hills via G.U.N. helicopter), so this subverts this potential corrupting quality.
