What's the Work?[]
The How to Train Your Dragon Infection Au is an alternative story created by Sneebsnop which uses the recently popular Infection idea. In this story, a parasite gets inside the Dragons and slowly takes over their minds and bodies, recently able to take over humans as well.
Who is he?[]
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III is the main protagonist of the series. Like in canon, he is the chief of Berk and leader of the Dragon Riders, and now the leader in the attempts to contain the virus and save as many dragons as possible.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Once the infections started, he began taken care of Toothless upon infection and started a journal where he documented all the phases of the virus as well as the symptoms displayed by dragons on each phase to help vikings spot infected dragons. He also identified which phases became fatal to the dragons and advised riders who had dragons past the point of no return to give them a mercy killing.
- After the infected Toothless attacked him and Stormfly, he made it known that the infected were hostile and did not die after the final phase. He also made sure to carefully observe Stormfly for signs of the illness after she was bitten by Toothless and helped treat her trauma from the encounter.
- Once Barf became infected, he proposed removing his head in order to allow Belch to survive, administring sedatives and letting the Twins do it themselves as well as say goodbye to one part of their dragon. Afterwards, he kept Barf's head to study and cut it open, discovering the worms inside and the source of the infection as well as taking note of their weakness to fire.
- His observation would become vital in the village's prolonged survival as this would reveal the one way to get rid of the parasites as well as the Nightmares' apparent inmunity due to their fire based bodies and inspire Fishlegs to begin using Fireworms for a possible cure or delay in the infection.
- He took Toothless' old gear and convinced the Light Fury to wear it and allow him to ride her as they worked to search for signs of Toothless' husk and possible information on the infection.
- He sent out Terrible Terrors with messages to Valka and the Berserker Tribe with warnings about the infection. His messages would also cause Heather and Dagur to return to Berk to help with the outbreak and also save his own life later on as Dagur arrived just in time to save him from the infected Toothless.
- He and the Light Fury left on an exploration trip to discover possible sources of the Infection and cut it off from Berk, succesfully managing to fins infected fish and take it out of the water.
- He left Fishlegs in charge of Berk and researching the infected, giving the Viking the chance to develop a possible cure and a system to easily detect infected dragons using Rumblehorns.
- When he and the Light Fury were decontaminating the waters and were suddenly attacked by Toothless, the two of them managed to stand their ground, though Hiccup was unable to harm his best friend even in this state.
- After the Light Fury died and he was saved by Dagur's timely arrival, the two set up camp and where later found by Astrid and Valka with Hiccup telling them how invulnerable the Infected Toothless is now.
- When the group found an uninfected dragon, they decided to take it back to Berk.
Admirable Standard[]
Hiccup, Fishlegs, and Dagur are the only greatly notable characters and Hiccup definetly stands out as he was the one who first managed to contain the infections and create conuntermeasures, swallowing his own grief over Toothless to help the village and prevent others from losing their dragons and being behind most of Fishlegs' heroism as his notes are what allowed him to create a possible antidote for the dragons, not to mention Hiccup has been going around trying to stop the infection and cut it at the source.
Corrupting Qualities[]
While he does have a small moment of angrily asking Astrid if she thinks she can stop Toothless with an axe, it's justifiable since he just had his arm ripped off by his own best friend's lifless body and watched the Light Fury get killed before him, and even then he quickly composes himself.
