This is my first PG proposal (keep this in mind as I am inexperienced because of this) that I've been wanting to do for a while. Meet the iconic GameToons protagonist, Player.
What's The work?
GameToons is a YouTube channel that makes animated videos based on popular video games, most notably Among Us, Minecraft, Friday Night Funkin, and Poppy Playtime. Even though the videos are usually made for comedy, the usually have a proper plot, protagonist and antagonist, and/or deliver a message.
Who is He and What Has He Done?
Player is the main protagonist of GameToons. He plays various video games and does good deeds in each of them.
His full synopsis is too long, so I will type his deeds (the ones i remember by heart) in a bullet list. Please comment anything I missed.
In general
- He is usually selfless, loyal, nice, forgiving, agreeable and caring.
- Defeats The Darkness, saving GameToons, his friends, and the entire universe from its threat.
- Defeats the Spirit of Halloween (who is actually MrCheese in disguise) in a rap battle and ends his threat.
- Is often shown for sympathy.
Among Us Logic
- Resists the urge to kill Mother after she shows him a cute picture of her kids. (Even though killing her would be beneficial as it would bring him one step closer to victory).
- Convinces Noob to play the game with him.
- Sacrifices his win to help Captain win as a Christmas present, thinking he was the imposter.
- Renounces his win that he cheated for to Innersloth, (deciding his friends are more important than winning) showing he is honorable and enjoys being with them.
- Convinces Dr. Doktor to turn against Novisor.
- Advises Captain and Ninja to flee to safety while he holds off Novisor, showing he cares about them.
- Defeats Novisor, who was too dangerous to be left alive, saving the world from his threat and reviving Aiden, who is Dr. Doktor's son.
Minecraft Logic
- Is remorseful after killing a sheep (which was only done for food) and makes it up to a pig named Eric (whom he later befriends) via carrots.
Friday Night Funkin' Logic
- Attempts to save Pico from Baldi, despite the former's repeated assassination attempts.
- Asks Selever for help in finding Ruv, and goes to help Girlfriend after the former's refusal.
- Proposes to Girlfriend and impresses her family when she says yes.
- Thanks Sky for saving them from Tricky the clown.
Poppy Playtime Logic
- Saves Poppy from her container and befriends her.
- Befriends Huggy and Kissy Missy and accepts them as family.
- Willingly sacrifices the opportunity to be human again to stay in the factory with Kissy, Huggy, and Poppy.
Squid Game Logic
- He is helpful towards Noob in all episodes, implying he loves her.
- Saves her from the other competitors in the dormitory.
- Thanks her for saving his life in Red Light, Green Light.
- Encourages Veteran to follow her advice to let go of the rope, saving the other teammates.
- Goes out of his way to save her from falling (although not doing so would actually be beneficial as it would bring him one step closer to victory) after Veteran knocked her over out of spite, showing he truly cares about her.
Admirable Standards
Given that he defeats Novisor and The Darkness, (two beings capable of genocide and taking over the world) and saves the entire world from their threats, I'd say he sets the Admirable standard for the whole franchise. Here are some other heroes that fail the Admirable standards to him. (due to him having similar or lower resources)
- First is Dr. Doktor, who kills Duncan and assists in the fight against Novisor.
- Second is Veteran, who has a more antagonistic role, but still is a good friend to Player on some occasions.
Corrupting Qualities/Mitigating Factors
While he sometimes shows signs of cockiness or cowardice, they are usually understandable, and he sometimes makes up for them out of remorse. Even so, his true personality is that of a selfless, forgiving, and caring boy, and nowadays he has little (if any) jerkish moments, so it's safe to say he fully subverted any corrupting qualities he had in the past and is completely beyond corruption by now.
Final Verdict
Given that he saves the world twice from two beings that were too dangerous to be left alive, I say yes to Player being Pure Good.
