Vautrin was a posthumous minor protagonist of Genshin Impact. He was a Special Security and Surveillance Patrol Captain who worked with a Melusine named Carole during the early days of Neuvillette's tenure as Chief Justice and the founder of the Mutual Aid Network, where he helped the lives of disadvantaged Fortress of Meropide inmates.

He is voiced by Brent Mukai in English and Haruka Jinya in Japanese.

What Makes Him Pure Good?

• Defended Carole from being subject to racial bullying by radical anti-Neuvillette hardliners, resulting in himself and Carole getting Medals of Peace from Neuvillette himself.
• While Vautrin took it upon himself to murder most of the xenophobes involved in Carole's suicide, it is greatly implied that he showed remorse for the murders, making it a one-time heating up period, as evidenced by him no longer showing any signs of aggression during his time in the Fortress of Meropide, along with the fact that the Fortress inmates saw him positively all along, highly implying that he was forgiven there.
  • This is also helped by the fact that it was also triggered by the trauma of him losing his sister Illaria which led to him losing control after Carole’s loss since he saw her like his late sister.
• Pretends to expect that Neuvillette would let him get off scot-free for his murder of the hardliners through abusing his connections so that he could install him as an impartial judge in a tantrum upon being pronounced guilty, allowing him and the Melusines to live in peace and liberating the latter from discrimination, all motivated by Carole's ideas of letting Melusines coexist with Fontainians peacefully which Vautrin admits after the trial. This would also lead to Neuvillette developing a fatherly bond with some of his fellow Melusines.
  • Also, it indirectly led to Neuvillette being able to turn the Fontainians back into humans and end the Fontainian prophecy, which was made sure when people grew to be able to recognise his non-human origins.
• Establishes the Mutual Aid Network in the Fortress of Meropide to protect disadvantaged inmates and help them in their rehabilitations, to promote justice and accept proper judgment, helping to make the Fortress a safer place for its inhabitants.
