William Anthonio Zeppeli, also known as simply Will A. Zeppeli, is the deuteragonist of JoJo Bizarre Adventure Part I: Phantom Blood.

Introduced as the first character in the series to use the Ripple/Hamon, Zeppeli acts as a mentor to Jonathan and is the first member of the Zeppeli family to aid a Joestar.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

In General[]

  • Although he abandoned his family to travel across the world, this is justified as he wanted to find a way to fight vampires so that he could protect more people from harm.
  • Despite initially acts wierd as he shows up, he is actually very kind towards everyone and never outright jerkish.
  • Despite initially acted rude to Speedwagon and yelled to him once, as Speedwagon unfreezes Zeppeli's arm with his body heat, he acknowledges Speedwagon's bravery and apologizes to him.
  • Although he didn't defeat as many enemies as Jonathan did, Zeppeli is the reason why Jonathan becomes a powerful Hamon warrior in the first place, and it is his sacrifice that gives Jonathan enough power to defeat Dio. Therefore, he passes the in-story admirable standard.

Background[]

  • After his father discovered a Stone Mask and used it to turn into a vampire, he dedicated his life to destroy Stone Masks and fight against vampires.
  • He traveled to Tibet to study Hamon under his teacher Tonpetty, and accepted 3 years of training alongside Dire and Straizo.
  • As Tonpetty foresees Zeppeli's death and warns him he would be destinied to die if he continues training, Zeppeli accepts his fate and agrees to complete the training.

Phantom Blood[]

  • After hearing Jonathan Joestar defeated Dio Brando and got injured, he presents himself to Jonathan heals Jonathan's arm.
  • He teaches and trains Jonathan Hamon for two weeks.
  • He joins Speedwagon and Jonathan on their quest to defeat Dio and destroy the Mask.
  • When encountering the zombie Jack the Ripper, Zippeli briefly fights Jack but then teaches Jonathan to do it himself to teach him to perfect his Ripple as practice.
  • As a brainwashed little boy Poco steals thier bags, he and Jonathan saves Poco from falling down the cliff.
  • As Dio shows up to the group, Zeppeli tries to attack Dio, but Dio counters freezes his arm.
  • After Jonathan defeats Bruford, Zeppeli and Jonathan use their Ripple on a pile of leaves to make a hang glider to escape Tarkus.
  • As Jonathan is struggling to fight Tarkus and has him chained up, Zeppeli tries to destroy the door with his fist to the point of bleeding.
  • As Zeppeli enters the chamber with Poco's help, he realizes he is destinied to die in this battle according to Tonpetty's prophecy, then he accepts his fate and moves on to fight Tarkus.
  • After Tarkus bifurcates Zeppeli at the waist, Zeppeli sacrifices himself to give Jonathan the power needed to defeat Tarkus.
  • As Jonathan holds him in his last minutes before dying, he encourages Jonathan to destroy the Stone Mask and save the world.
  • After his death, it is revealed that Zeppeli had sent a letter to his master Tonpetty asking for help. Tonpetty, alongside Dire and Straizo, joins Jonathan to fight against Dio and his zombie minions.
